MASCOT MAYHEM!!
Over the past two weeks, local school children have been participating in the Colwyn Bay Football Club’s “Mascot Mayhem” Project run by Colwyn Bay Football in the Community (CBFITC) in conjunction with Communities First. The children have been designing and coming up with names for the club’s first ever Mascot! Once they finished their designs, they had a training session by the CBFITC coaches on the first team football pitch. Their designs, names and ideas will be passed on to a panel of judges who will then decide on a winner.
The lucky and talented winner will have the opportunity to see his/her design being transferred over to a computer and then actually being made in the same factory where “Fred the Red”, “Moon City” and the FIFA Confederations Cup mascots were born!
The Mascot will then be unveiled at one of our Home games and the winner will be presented with the Birth Certificate.
There is just the small matter of finding someone to don the costume...any volunteers?!!

GROUNDSMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD – LATEST NEWS
Llanelian Road was paid a visit by the head groundsmen from Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham as representatives of the Football Association today (20th April 2010) and were given a tour of the stadium and more importantly the pitch by our Groundsman Elfed Morris.
Elfed was quizzed on the condition of the pitch, available equipment as well as his pitch maintenance, fertilising and irrigation programme.
Both representatives seemed very impressed with the pitch and the club in general so we will keep our fingers crossed for Elfed, as we all hope he can repeat the success of last season, or maybe go one better and win the National award at this level!
The results for Groundsman of the year are to be announced in August/September
THIRD PLACE IS IN OUR OWN HANDS
If results go Colwyn Bay’s way this week, a win on Thursday night when Colwyn Bay travel to Clitheroe, could secure third spot before the final game of the season against AFC Fylde.
Harrogate Railway Athletic entertains Curzon Ashton on Monday 19th April, before Curzon Ashton has to travel to Lancaster City on Thursday 22nd April.
Skelmersdale United are at home on Tuesday 20th April when they entertain Chorley, before travelling to Mossley on Thursday 22nd April.
Both teams need points just to stay in the race for third. Should Colwyn Bay win on Thursday and Skelmersdale do not pick up maximum points; it will become a two horse race between the Bay and Curzon Ashton.
Two wins for Colwyn Bay would of course mean that
Updated 19th April 2010:

against Skelmersdale, then the Bay can garantee a third place finish with a win on Thursday at Clitheroe.
Updated 20th April 2010:
With Skelmersadale winning tonight (Tuesday 20th April) Colwyn Bay still require 4 points from their last 2 matches to garrantee third spot. Should the Bay win their match on Thursday evening, Skelmersdale will have to win their match against Mossley to take it to a 'Final Day Showdown;
Halifax won the league this evening after pulling back a two goal deficit against Colwyn Bays next opponents Clitheroe. It was a sterling effort by Clitheroe who were leading 2-0, but two goals in the second half from Wilde (76 mins) and Baker (87 mins) sealed promotion for the Shaymen.
