TRANMERE STRIKER JOINS ON LOAN
Colwyn Bay FC manager Neil Young has reached an agreement to sign promising Tranmere Rovers reserve team striker Josh MacAughley on a month’s loan. Josh, who is described as a powerful and quick centre forward, who is capable of scoring spectacular goals and also hold’s the ball up well.
For the past two seasons MacAughley has been the Tranmere youth teams leading scorer. The deal follows on from a similar arrangement last season with Tranmere to take Ashton Taylor on, what turned out to be, a very successful loan spell. Ashton has since gone on to become a Rovers first team regular.
Manager Neil Young commented on securing the deal: “I was made aware of Josh's quality last season when we had Ashton and I am very grateful to John Barnes and Shaun Garnett for allowing us to take him on loan. Josh will be a big asset for us with his power and pace and he is a goal-scorer which, I believe, is something that we are a little short of at the moment”
“He should also reap the benefits of playing in competitive games week in and week out against good players and will return to Tranmere with a good experience under his belt, just as Ash did last season.”
If the paperwork can be completed in time Josh will be in line for his debut at Rossendale Utd on Saturday were, co-incidentally, he scored for Tranmere reserves on Wednesday against Rochdale. A win on Saturday will see the Bay take top spot in the Unibond First Division North.

GROUND DEVELOPMENT – UPDATE
The club would like to provide supporters with an update with regards future ground development plans.
Over the course of the last 12 months the club has investigated the various possibilities for the next stage of ground developments. As a result, Colwyn Bay Football Club decided that it will be committed to the upgrade & development of Llanelian Road. The objective will be to incorporate complementary community sports and social facilities to vastly upgrade the Club’s existing infrastructure as well as developing existing and introducing new income streams which will be the key to the clubs future financial stability and to its role as a positive focus for the local community
As part of a phased development, the initial outline of the plans are to include; the construction of a main seated stand building which would incorporate social, community and changing room facilities. Additionally, plans will include; a cover for the Triact terrace, erection of a new south stand terrace and an upgrade to the existing north stand. There will also be scope to develop an additional leisure facility that will occupy land that is currently unused within the ground.
The facilities would be designed to Conference North standard with the ability to upgrade to Conference level should the club be in a position to challenge for that level of football.
In order to assist with the development of the plans and to carry out a feasibility study the club has appointed Alpha Projects Ltd. Alpha are a company with expertise & experience in the field of stadium development having successfully carried out the upgrade of Fleetwood Town FC’s stadium and Burton Albion’s impressive Pirelli Stadium.
Following the appointment, Alan Herbert - Managing Director of Alpha Projects commented: “Alpha Project Management is delighted to be helping Colwyn Bay FC to develop their plans for the improvement of Llanelian Road. As with other recently completed ground upgrades for Burton Albion FC and Fleetwood Town FC, we intend to provide our expertise in this specialist area to make sure that the Club and its supporters, as well as the wider local community, benefit in both the short and long term from the construction of the exciting facilities the Club plans to continue its development both on and off the pitch”.
Managing Director Darren Cartwright “The starting point for the development plan is to conduct a detailed feasibility study as to what ground development plans will achieve maximum benefit for the club and its supporters, but which are also realistic, achievable and sustainable.”
“Over the years, the club has done very well to improve and maintain the ground to its current standard. This would not of been possible without the help of volunteers and the support from local businesses and community as a whole.”
“However, in order to continue to move the club forward both on and off the field, it is vital that we produce a long term plan to develop the stadium into a top-class facility and we are already going through the process of exploring the necessary funding avenues to try and turn that into reality.”
Draft design plans have already been drawn up and the club is now shortly due to commence exploratory excavations around the ground in order to conduct a sub-surface survey which will help determine the feasibility of the proposed ground development.
In demonstration of support for the clubs plans, the supporters behind the “Raise the Roof” fundraiser, which was led by Arthur Holden, have decided to make available the funds raised in order to help assist the club develop its plans.
Arthur is pictured left handing over a cheque to club director Darren Cartwright at Saturdays Colwyn Bay vs. Garforth game.
As part of the initial plan, the club are looking to establish an office base at the ground which, in the short term, will greatly assist in the co-coordination of the clubs various day-to-day operations as well as providing a project base for the ground development plans.
In a further development, the club has also very recently been “sounded out” over a potential move to the new “Parc Eirias” Rugby development. The club are due to hold talks with council representatives shortly and will look to explore and thoroughly assess every possible avenue before deciding on the option that will be in the best interests of the football club. In the meantime, existing plans will continue to be developed.
Further updates will be provided in due course.
ELFED RECEIVES UNIBOND GROUNDSMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
Colwyn Bay Football Club’s Groundsman Elfed Morris received the UniBond league Groundsman of the Year award at the recent home match vs. Leigh Genesis. Elfed was also a runner up in the national awards.
The awards were presented by UniBond League secretary Phil Bradley (pictured right).
Elfed, who lives in Colwyn Bay, is a former professional footballer who played in the football league for Wrexham, Chester and Halifax.
Elfed joined Wrexham in May 1960 after starting out with his hometown club Colwyn Bay. Two years later he moved to local rivals Chester, where he was to spend the majority of his professional career.
Morris scored 69 league goals over the next six years, leaving him as the club's fourth highest Football League scorer in their history. 24 of them came in 1964–65, when Morris and fellow attackers Jimmy Humes, Mike Metcalf, Hugh Ryden and Gary Talbot all managed at least 20 goals each in league and English cup matches.
Morris scored an identical tally the following season, amid rumors he would be leaving for a bigger club.
Morris ended his league career at Halifax Town, before spending time in non-league football with Caernarfon Town, Bethesda Athletic, Llandudno Borough and Colwyn Bay.
He managed both Caernarfon and Colwyn Bay before becoming the club Groundsman with the Bay.
On behalf of all at the club we would like to congratulate Elfed on achieving this award which is a just reward for his hard work over the years.
We would also like to thank those who have also helped to contribute to ensuring that the club produces an excellent, and now award winning, playing surface.

Additionally, I hope to form strong relationships with local partners and work together on projects that can help address issues such as anti-social behaviour, education and unemployment. I also have other ‘innovative’ ideas that I will look to implement in the near future!”
Christian Fontana has also been appointed to the position of Projects Manager. Christian, who is a graduate from Bangor University, has previous experience as Operations Manager for a Sports Tours company which involved dealing with a number of football clubs, world-wide and brings with him strong organisational skills.

The full FITC year planner detailing all “Fun Football” course dates will be released shortly.
“A strong community focus is imperative for any football club at any level, therefore, the club has assembled a strong team to ensure that we are able to create and maintain stronger links within the community through a number of initiatives & projects.” said Darren Cartwright, CBFC Managing Director.
“We will also be looking to provide football development opportunities at all levels of the game. We believe that our efforts will produce positive outcomes for the area and for the club itself”

YOUNG SLAMS TEAM'S LACK OF DESIRE
FURIOUS Colwyn Bay manager Neil Young has slammed the application and lack desire of some of his players after Tuesday's 2-1 Presidents Cup defeat at Cammell Laird.
He and assistant Gary Jones kept the players in the dressing room for 45 minutes after the game. "To say we are angry is the understatement of the year," he said today. "I have put the team together and I'm the one in charge, but I don't want my name associated with that rubbish last night.
"There was nothing but negatives from that performance. It takes a lot to get Gary (Jones) riled, but he has just had enough of it as well and we left the players in no doubts about how we felt. "I can accept defeat if I feel the players have given 100 per cent, but there can be no excuse for a lack of desire, and the application of some of the players last night was a disgrace.
"Some of the players we have brought in are not giving enough back to the club and that has disappointed and dismayed me."
The manager is now working hard to try and bring in a centre half on loan in time for Saturday's big game at Skelmersdale United so that he can move Rob Hopley back into an attacking postion.
He is also hoping that Carl Clampitt, Jimmy Kelly and Jamie Dunn will be fit to make a return after injury along with skipper Dave Challinor.

Neil Young has continued efforts to strengthen the squad with the signing of Stuart Graves from Blue Square North side, Droylsden.
Graves is a versatile left sided player who can operate in both defence and midfield and was a member of Rhyl’s 2003/04 quadruple winning team. He has also appeared for Bradford Park Avenue & Cammell Laird.
