THE Colwyn Bay Youth team came from 1-4 down with 20 minutes left, to win 5-4 against Valley and reach the semi-finals of the North Wales Coast FA Junior Cup (Feb 27).

Kyle Taylor put the Bay 1-0 up from a low cross, but Valley then took a 4-1 lead before Bay manager Gary John Jones switched from a 4-3-3 to a 3-5-2 formation and saw his side score four times in the space of 15 minutes to turn the tie around.

Jake Colville scored with a left foot shot to start the fight back  before Pierce Jones scored with a penalty, then after Charlie Jones had headed the equaliser, Pierce Jones won the tie with another penalty which had to be taken twice because of encroachment.

Gary John, whose side are also in the semi-finals of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League’s REM Jones Cup,  commented: “We’ve got some really good lads in the youth team and every one of them deserved Man of the Match for a tremendous second half performance.”
