THE Seagulls earned a battling away point with ten men as they held Ilkeston to a 0-0 draw.
Archie Love was given a straight red card after 36 minutes for a strong tackle that brought an angry response from the Ilkeston players and crowd, but Colwyn Bay defended superbly to keep the home side out.
Goalkeeper Louis Gray produced two excellent diving saves to turn two goal bound efforts round the post and made a full length diving save from a free kick.
The Seagulls started quite brightly without being able to test the home keeper, but the sending off with nearly an hour of the game still to play, meant the Bay had concentrate mainly on stopping Ilkeston making their extra man count.
They did that well with Sam Barnes, Luke Denson and Zac Corbett dealing well with numerous crosses and balls into the area, while Gray was again excellent in goal.
The point keeps the Bay two points clear of the bottom four and within three points of the five teams above them – although they all have games in hand.
Colwyn Bay: Gray, Dowling, Corbett, Love, Denson, Barnes, Williams, Booth, Marsden, Hopley, Matthews (Lea 73mins). Subs not used: Brewster, Dillon, Holsgrove, Fagbola.
