THE Seagulls were beaten 3-2 by a strong Wigan Athletic Under 23 side in their final warm up game for the new Evostik West season.

Colwyn Bay’s goals came from Ashley Ruane and a Will Booth penalty in what coach Neil Coverley described as a good run out against a very strong Wigan side.

The squad will now train Tuesday and Thursday to prepare for next Saturday’s opening league game at home to Kendal Town.

THE Reserves lost 3-0 to  Llandudno Amateurs in their last pre-season game.

Manager Chris Thompson commented: “We need to work on a few things in training ahead of our first league on Friday, but great to sees even 16-year-olds on the pitch against a team that has been together for a few years and won promotion last year.

“We’ve made some great signings over the last few days and look forward to building an identity for the squad and working with in training”
