COLWYN BAY are three goals away from netting their 200th as a Conference North side and would love to reach that milestone in Saturday’s home game against fifth-bottom Bradford Park Avenue (3pm).
Missed opportunities have cost the side in recent games, but manager Frank Sinclair commented: “We have worked very hard in training over the past two weeks on the attacking side of our game, particularly in the 18 yard box, and hopefully that will start to pay dividends.
“I would be a lot more worried if we weren’t creating opportunities, but we have been doing that okay and not been capitalising on them enough.”
He has virtually a full strength squad to choose from, with Tom Buckley and Lanre Olapade pushing for a return to the starting line-up after injury and new signing Vinnie Mukendi hoping to make his home debut.
“We’ve got competition for places again and I’ve some tough selection decisions to make, but that’s the way I like it,” added the boss.
Bradford Park Avenue have won only one of their last 12 league and cup games, conceding 30 goals in the process, and have still to win away from home in the league this season (two draws and five defeats).
But Sinclair warned: “I’m not taking too much notice of that. They could quite easily come to us and play out of their skins so we’ve got to be prepared for that and make sure we get our performance right.”
A home win will move Colwyn Bay further up the pack that are chasing the top five play-off places, with their next two games also against sides currently in the bottom six.
