SADLY the match referee has called off the home game against Scarborough just over an hour before kick off after late morning heavy rain and hail left standing water down one side of the pitch.
Despite frantic efforts by groundsman Elfyn Jones and volunteers, the water could not be cleared.
Scarborough and a coachload of their fans had already arrived after a long journey when the decision was made.
Much of the pitch was fine, with Colwyn Bay able to hold a training session on it, but the referee deemed a narrow strip down the touchline by the main stand as unplayable (see photo below).
It was one of four games postponed due to the weather, whilst in the other games top eight sides South Shields, Prescot Cables, Ossett Town and Trafford all dropped points. Ramsbottom also lost at Goole, but Clitheroe and Mossley both won to climb above Colwyn Bay in the table – although the we now have two games in hand on both of them.
The Seagulls next game is away to Skelmersdale United next Saturday (the game to played at Prescot Cables ground)
