Sloppy defending at the start gifted Denbigh an early goal from Warren Duckett, who then had a headed goal ruled out for offside, but Colwyn Bay gradually grew into the game and equalised on 28 minutes.
Ash Seddon’s free kick was deflected for a corner which Denbigh struggled to clear and Marc Williams, who turned out for the Reserves tonight, teed up a chance for Will Frost, whose shot from the edge of the area took a deflection to beat Denbigh keeper Louis Pritchard.
The Bay might even have been in front by half-time, but Pritchard did well to turn another Frost shot round the post for a corner and Damian Ketley and Sean Sheridan both fired good chances over the bar.
In the second half Gaz Rees saved well from Luke Appleby and Duckett went close with a header and a free kick before Colwyn Bay
took the lead on 72 minutes.
Marc Williams played a great ball through to Damian Ketley who ran on and fired past the keeper.
Ketley had the ball in the net again shortly afterwards only to be flagged offside and Williams, Sheridan and Frost all went close to adding to Bay’s lead in the closing minutes.
A great win for the Bay, against a side that had only been beaten once previously this season, and they picked up their second piece of silverware in five days.
