COLWYN BAY Reserves had an excellent 3-0 victory over Llanrwst United to go above them in the table and to within two points of fifth-placed Llandudno with two games in hand.
Joe Collier gave the Seagulls a 1-0 half-time lead with a shot from outside the penalty area, although player-manager Chris Thompson almost opened the scoring in the first five minutes with a shot that was curling into the top corner before the Llanrwst keeper pulled off a fine save to tip the ball round the post.
Thompson also missed a chance with a header just before the break from a good ball by Chris Littler.
However, the player-boss scored twice in the second half to secure the points.
He ran onto a pass from Ryan Watson and lobbed the keeper from outside the box, and then added Bay’s third goal when Declan O’Connor drilled the ball into him from the left wing.
Sion Noble went close to adding a fourth as he turned a defender but put his shot narrowly over the bar.
Colwyn Bay had Jordan Taylor sent off for a harsh second yellow card in the last 15 minutes, but  Chris Thompson commented: “Overall it was a good win and the players are now looking forward to the match at Glan Conwy on Friday.”
Tonight’s squad was: Gareth Rees, Jordan Taylor, Fabian Ellis, Josh Graham, David Algeiri, Chris Littler, Adam Hodgson, Sean Sheridan, Joe Collier, Declan O’Connor, Chris Thompson, Matt Sampson, Joe Pitts, Jules Waters, Sion Noble, Ryan Watson.
