SEAGULLS’ top scorer Astley Mulholland is featured this week in an in-depth interview with NonLeagueDaily’s Chris Brookes,  see  http://nonleaguedaily.com/mulholland-thrive/

Astley, with 16 goals in 31 appearances so far for the Bay this season,  is having his best season as a goal scorer since his early at Flixton Town in the North West Counties League where he scored 44 in one season and attracted interest from Crewe Alexandra and had an offer to play professionally in Belgium.

He was an out and out striker at Flixton, but has been played more as a winger at subsequent  spells with Altrincham, FC United of Manchester and Glossop North End.

Astley is currently  four goals away from becoming the first Colwyn Bay player in eight years to hit 20 goals in a season.

The last was Ian Sheridan in 2009/10, following Rob Hopley the previous season with 23 – although both Obi Anorou in 2013/14 and Hopley in 2012/13 went close with 19.
He will need to go some, however, to top Neil Black’s 29 goals in 2007/8.
