THE club’s new Head of Recruitment, Phil Staley, has completed the signing of two more players this week while Ash Hoskin has been away on holiday.
He is particularly pleased to have beaten off interest from a number of clubs to have secured the signature of 21-year-old central defender Jordan Fagbola from Stockport County, and has also agreed terms with former Crewe Alex and Nantwich Town forward Harry Clayton (22).
Fagbola was signed by Rochdale as 14-year-old and played in the Greater Manchester Boys team that won the National Under 16s Cup, before he joined Stockport and Phil Staley commented: “He is a very versatile centre half, who not only has a good football brain but also has a bit of pace and I think he will do very well for us.”
Harry Clayton is the brother of Bolton Wanderers striker Max Clayton and has had spells with Market Drayton, Stafford Rangers and Newcastle Town and Staley added: “He is a front runner who can also play wide and is a big lad with good pace.”
Phil is also excited about the recent signing of striker Brandon Zibaka who made his first team debut at North End when he was just 16 and was a member of Chorley’s Evostik Premier championship-winning squad in 2013/14.
“His head went down a bit after being released by Preston, but after a spell abroad he scored a lot of goals for Abbey Hey in the North West Counties League last season and could be prove a really big signing for us,” said Phil.
