Mixed luck in FA Cup and FA Trophy draws

THE Seagulls have been drawn at home to Stocksbridge Park Steels in the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup, but have been drawn away in both the opening rounds of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

The game against Jamie Vardy’s first club, Stocksbridge, will be on Saturday August 19. The last time the two clubs met at Llanelian Road in 2011 they produced a seven goal thriller with Stocksbridge edging it 4-3 after Damian Allen (2) and Luke Denson had scored for the Bay. But that was only their second win in five league and cup visits to North Wales.

Stocksbridge finished fourth in the Evo-stik Division One South last season, only to lose out in the playoffs.

In the FA Trophy, Colwyn Bay must travel to fellow Evostik Division one North side Ramsbottom United in the preliminary round on October 7th and should they win that they would be away again to Shaw Lane Association – the side they beat in the FA Cup last season with a Gaz Burnett goal – on October 28. The Yorkshire side then signed Gaz and went on to win the Evo-stik Division One South title and with it promotion to the Premier Division.
