COLWYN BAY VS LEIGH GENESIS
It was Leigh Genesis who looked the more dangerous as they seemed to be able to break down the flanks with ease for the first fifteen minutes, but Colwyn Bay defended well and once they had settled, Colwyn Bay always looked the more likely to score in the remainder of the first half as Chris Sanna had little to do, while his counterpart Stephen Drench pulled off a string of fine saves as they game approached half time and took the plaudits for keeping the Bay out until half time.
It was a dangerous Leigh Genesis that came out of the changing rooms at half time as they had a renewed belief that they could breakdown Colwyn Bay, but it was still Colwyn Bay who made the breakthrough just after the hour mark.
The move started with a Challinor throw. The ball was only cleared back to Challinor who headed the ball back into the danger area. The ball fell nicely to Tim Brandreth who was just behind the penalty spot who hit a sweet volley off the inside of the post and into the net.
Leigh battered on the Colwyn Bay door, but the Bay stood firm making it over seven hours since Colwyn Bay last leaked a league goal.
