MANGER Gus Williams has apologised to fans for an “unacceptable” performance in the 5-1 home defeat to Leamington.
“Good people come and pay good money to watch us and they were let down,” said the manager.
“Management and the players have to be accountable for what happens on the field and that performance was unacceptable and far from what was needed for the position that we are in. It was bitterly disappointing and we need to apologise to everyone for that.
“Certainly from the way we trained in the week I never saw that coming. For the first 15 or 20 minutes we were okay, but as soon as we conceded the first goal that was it – and that has been a recurring theme for some time now.”
Fortunately the news on Wes Baynes’ injury is not too bad. He came off in the first half after feeling a hamstring twinge, but after ice treatment the injury has improved a lot and he could possibly even be in contention for Wednesday’s game at Bradford Park Avenue.
