BAY BOSS: WEVE GOT SOME DIFFICULT DECISIONS TO MAKE
Following an intensive training session tonight Colwyn Bay boss Dave Challinor has spoken to us about the team’s preparations and squad building efforts so far:
“Every single player that has participated during pre-season has been absolutely first class. Their attitudes have been spot on and in fairness have made it very difficult for Colin and myself to select a squad.”
“We are approaching the time now where unfortunately we have some very difficult decisions to make regarding players futures for this season. In all honesty, I’d love to keep everyone but unfortunately, I’m not able to do that. We’re really close to our 16 as it stands at the moment but there is still opportunity over the next 2 games to stake a claim and really show us what they can do.”
“I’ve said throughout pre-season it was a case of being patient and seeing what players become available which fit in to what we are trying to do. As it is now, I’m getting names thrown at me everyday of players that are now looking for clubs. However, a number of lads that committed to Colin and myself early on have taken their opportunity. I’m also hoping to get answers from a few players currently on trial at higher division clubs before the weekend and hopefully secure a couple more signings that really show our intent for this season. One deal is agreed in principle, which, if we can finalise as expected, we will be really pleased about.”
“With regards the decision on the captaincy, we have more than a few candidates and we’ll endeavour to make a decision prior to the Warrington game.”
“Pre-season on the whole has gone really well so far, hopefully the lads have enjoyed it and it sets them in good stead for the coming season, whether it be with ourselves or elsewhere.“
In a message to the clubs loyal supporters Challinor said: “We’ll look forward to your support at the home game versus Wrexham, if not before at the away games at Witton and Chorley. “
“Take care and keep the support as it always is throughout for what will hopefully be a very exciting season for everybody. Chally”
