CLUB STATEMENT
Colwyn Bay Football Club would like to express its sincere apologies to all those football fans that were unfortunately caught up in the crowd disturbance at yesterday’s game against Chester FC.
The club will be looking to carry out a full review of the incidents that occurred, in conjunction with North Wales Police, as soon as possible.
As a family orientated community football club it is deeply disappointing when these instances occur, however, thankfully, they are a rare event at our club and we will be doing everything possible to ensure it stays that way.
The club would also like to point out that no Colwyn Bay supporters were involved in the incidents that occurred and that the efforts of its staff & volunteers throughout the day were exemplary.
However we would also like to point out that the vast majority of Chester FC supporters, in the 1,700 strong crowd, were extremely well behaved.
COLWYN BAY FC CLUB STATEMENT REGARDING MEDIA REPORTS
Colwyn Bay Football Club would like to draw a line under reports in the media today regarding Saturdays game which took a Colwyn Bay club official’s comments out of context in order to generate sensationalistic headlines whilst also failing to mention the positive aspects of the behaviour of the vast majority of Chester FC supporters that were stated.
Further from the official club statement released yesterday, again, we would like to emphasis that the overwhelming majority of Chester FC supporters at the ground were well behaved and were there simply to enjoy the football match and celebrate the rebirth of their football club.
Since Saturdays game we have been contacted by Chester FC officials who have apologised for the incidents that occurred and thank them for the professionalism that they have shown. We are also aware of the ongoing liaison between Chester FC and Cheshire Police in order to prevent future incidents.
Chester FC have also kindly offered to cover the cost of the minor damage that was sustained in the toilets in the clubhouse and we thank them for the offer.
Finally, we wish Chester FC well for the future in the interests of the continuing good relations between the two clubs. |
