Late decision on midfield vacancy

Stephen Wilson returns to the squad for Scarborough game.

THE Seagulls are set to give at least one player their first start of the campaign in Saturday’s away game at Scarborough Athletic.

Kyle Armstrong, who is getting married, and Mark Keddie (holiday) are both missing (having shared the number 8 shirt in the opening three games). However, Stephen Wilson is available again and he, Chris Bibby and Will Booth are all in contention to fill the vacancy in midfield.

“I won’t make a decision until just before the game, but one of those three is likely to get the shirt and then its up to them to try and keep it,” said manager Paul Moore.
Striker Will Jones has recovered from a heel injury and is in contention for a possible recall up front as the Seagulls, on the back of two successive victories, face a busy bank holiday weekend with a home fixture against Brighouse Town to follow on Monday (3pm).
Scarborough, now managed by former Guiseley and Telford boss Steve Kittrick, have failed to score in their two previous league outings this season and were knocked out of the FA Cup at Tadcaster last weekend after leading 2-0 at half-time, but have some experienced players like Paul Beesley and Craig Nelthorpe, both (ex-Harrogate Town and Gainsborough) and David Brown (formerly with Halifax Town and Bradford City).
The club, formed in 2007 when Scarborough FC went into liquidation and are currently ground sharing at Bridlington Town, have won two promotions since being formed, but finished in the bottom three of the Evostik Division One North last season – although they did reach the final of the League Cup before losing to Marine.
“I’m not taking too much notice of the fact that they haven’t had a win yet this season,” said Moore. “All the Yorkshire sides are tough opponents and we are expecting a physical game, but if we play like we have in our last two games we are certainly capable of coming home with the three points.”
