SEAGULLS manager Phill Hadland has today signed 21-year-old striker Julian Williams from Porthmadog and hopes his registration goes through in time for him to be involved in Saturday’s home game against mid-table rivals Ramsbottom United.
Williams, who has also played for Llandudno and was on loan at Rhyl for a while, has scored 11 goals for Porthmadog this season and was their top scorer last season.
Bay’s top scorer Scott Bakkor is a major doubt for Saturday with a knee injury and with forward players Jack Phillips, Rob Doran (suspended) and Jack Kelleher unable to commit fully to the club due to work and travel difficulties, the attack has become a concern for the manager with the Bay having scored only four goals in the last six games (one of those being an own goal) during their seven game winless run.
Williams is described as a fast, skilful player with a strong left foot shot and Hadland says he has been looking to bring in more locally based players who will be 100 per cent committed to playing for Colwyn Bay FC.
Defender Dan Collins, who came in on loan from Wrexham last weekend, could also be in line for his debut, while midfielder Tom Schofield returns after missing the last three games.
The Bay face a tricky game today against a Ramsbottom side that have been showing improved form since Colwyn Bay won 3-1 at the Riverside Stadium in September and have suffered only two defeats in their last 12 league games (six wins and four draws).
Last weekend’s home win over Bamber Bridge put them within two points of tenth-placed Colwyn Bay with three games in hand and manager Mark Fell has further strengthened his squad this week by signing former Blackburn Rovers striker Andy Bell, whose previous clubs also include Wycombe Wanders, York City, Fleetwood and AFC Fylde, and 18-year-old midfielder Joe Rathbone from Accrington Stanley.
THE club will be screening the Liverpool v Swansea game in the clubhouse before the game and the bar will be open from 12:30pm, with a special promotion on with Wrexham Lager being served at just £2 a pint!
THE Reserves lost 4-1 away to Caernarfon Town in the Welsh Alliance Reserve Division on Friday night (Jan 20).
