N.W.W.L LEAGUE CUP FINAL: COLWYN BAY V LLANGEFNI
This was the 5th time in the Ladies history that we had got through to the cup final and the 3rd time in a row as Colwyn Bay Ladies. Not a bad achievement I’m sure you will agree. But today was going to be a tough game as Llangefni are a tough team and had a lot of new players, so they were a bit of an unknown quantity really. We started the game with a bang after a cracking ball through by Sali Anderson, which Sue Harrison run on to with a one on one with the goalie, the shot rebounded off her and Simone Drummond was supporting Sue and popped the ball into an open net on about 4 mins so 1-0 to the Bay. After that we started to settle a little bit and play some good football. For the next 25 mins we was playing well but Llangefni wasn’t making it easy for us and were slowly coming back and after some good build up play they got a free kick and with a low hard shot which our goalie Nathania pushed onto the right post it went in off the post ,so now all square.
This seemed to spur us on and raise our game to another level as between then and half -time we got another 3 goals. The 2nd came from a cracking free kick from Stacey Tradewell from the right about 25yds out in to the top left corner, Simone Drummond got the second of her goals and our 3rd after a cracking run through and she put it in the bottom right corner and Sue Harrison got her first of the game and our 4th just before half -time after a great ball through by Sara Williams that split the defence and Sue put it in the bottom left corner so half-time 4-1 to the Bay
The second half Llangefni came out with the bit between their teeth and caused us a few more problems to begin with but once we got back into the stride of our game again we started playing some great football. Llangefni were trying to create chances and were still playing some good football themselves but our back four of Catrin Wright, Sali Anderson, Hayley Farrington and Nic Cureton were cutting everything out and playing awesome. We were getting hold of midfield now too and Sara and Stacey were using the wings well and bringing Hayley Trimm and Rhiannon Mahoney into the Game and both players were causing the Llangefni defence problems .On about 20 mins into the second half Stacey got her second and our 5th of the game with a classic Tradewell pile driver from just outside the box from the right into the top left corner. I took Noni Mahoney off as she had had bad cramp and put Jess Wall on and also I swapped Hayley Trimm for Natalie Heap ,and Debbie Flatley for Hayley Farrington and all subs played absolutely brilliant when they came on .But it wasn’t over yet and the Bay had one more goal to score before the end of the game, and it came from Simone Drummond her hat trick and our 6th of the game after being put through by Catrin Wright a superb solo effort and a cracking right foot shot into the roof of the goal so final score 6- 1 to the Bay.
Well done ladies an outstanding performance from everyone a brilliant squad effort once again.
26-4-08: Colwyn Bay Rockets v Mostyn (cup)
We were missing one of our main strikers and also there was a couple of girls not feeling 100%, but we started the game well and the first 5-10 minutes Sophie our lone striker who had an outstanding game had quite a few chances and if not for some good defending and goalkeeping by Mostyn we could of had a goal. It was against the run of play Mostyn got their first goal, so 1-0 to Mostyn. After that Mostyn started to play some good football although we was battling hard and trying our best we couldn’t stop Mostyn getting another two goals half -way through the 1st half. So now 3-0 to Mostyn. We were playing some good football but just couldn’t get that goal we needed. Unfortunately just before half-time Mostyn got another so half -time 4-0 to Mostyn.
2nd half I told Rachel my centre back who is a strong skilful player to push up a bit more and have a go at goal and she made more than 1 or 2 cracking runs that nearly ended up putting the ball in the back of the net, but Mostyn’s defence held firm and their goalie was a big strong girl too. 2nd half we left ourselves a bit bare at the back at times and we paid for it as in the second half Mostyn got 3 more goals so final score 7-0 to Mostyn.
Congrats to Sophie Jones for getting MOM. Don’t forget girls just because you lost doesn’t mean that you played badly. Keep battling
19-04-08: Colwyn Bay Ladies vs. Pwllheli Ladies
What with having to change this fixture to Kinmel Bays ground as our pitch was waterlogged it was a real run around morning to keep this game on, but we did and what a game it turned out to be.
Pwllheli kicked off and for the first ten minutes the Bay were playing well and after a lot of early pressure, both Sue Harrison & Becky Heap came close on goal and Hayley Trimm who was partnering Stacey Tradewell in centre mid also came close on goal on a couple of occasions too.
Unfortunately for us, against the run of play Pwllheli got a break away goal after some good build up play from their midfield so 1-0 to Pwhelli. The Bay started to lose their way a bit for a while and we gave Pwhelli to much time and space on the ball and not long after again, some good passing play from Pwllheli they got their second goal so now 2-0 to Pwllheli.
My captain Sali Anderson had to come off as she wasn’t well so I put Hayley Farrington in her place & what a game she had. Just before half time I brought Nathania Scyner, my usual goalie back on as she had been out for a while and she pulled off two great saves getting straight involved in the game, but just before half time we gave away a very suspect penalty which Pwllheli put away in the bottom left corner so half time 3-0 to Pwllheli.
Half Time 3-0
After a constructive half-time talk we came out with a lot more enthusiasm and desire in the second half. Pwllheli was down to ten men as they had had a player sent off and we started the second half with a bang. After a great attack down the middle with Simone Drummond & Stacey Tradewell both involved we managed to get a corner. After a well taken corner from Stacey and a goal mouth scramble Becky Heap poked the ball home, so now 3-1 to Pwllheli.
That was just the boost we needed and we were now starting to play some good football and work for each other & support each other. Pwllheli were now on the back foot and were getting quite stressed out and making silly mistakes and our confidence was growing with every ball we played. Twenty minutes into the half, we were given a free kick and from twenty five yards out Stacey Tradewell stepped up to take it and hit a cracking goal right in the top left corner leaving the keeper no chance. So, now 3-2 to Pwllheli and game on.
We were more or less camped in their half now and apart form the odd break we were now well on top. As the game went into the last ten minutes, my centre back Hayley Farrington got hold of the ball in midfield took on a player and hit a low hard shot from about 20 yards out which hit the bottom left corner of the goal.
Full Time 3-3
Extra time loomed and through both halves of extra time we were all over Pwllheli and should have won it in extra time. Stacey hit the bar from a free kick Becky put one just wide and Simmy Drummond hit the post.
And so to Pens as after extra time it was still 3-3. Pwllheli scored two pens and our goalie Nathania scored one and they hit the bar with one and skied another one over the top. We scored our first three pens, goal scorers being Stacey Tradewell, Nic Cureton & Sara Williams.
Unfortunately, Hayley Trimm had hers saved but they missed their last pen so we didn’t have to take our last one who was Hayley Farrington.
Well done ladies a fantastic effort and an outstanding second half come back. I’m really proud of you. You all played your part today even all the subs.
Looking forward to the final (Seagulls, Seagulls).
05-04-08: Colwyn Bay vs. Llangefni
We actually started the game with eight players for a change and for the first five minutes we were playing well with both Eleanor Slack and Sophie Jones coming close on goal, but then Llangefni started to come back into the game and on about ten minutes they got their first goal.
After that we started to lose our way a bit and Llangefni who are a very good side started to play some good football and if wasn’t for some wayward shooting and a couple of good saves from our goalie Becky, it could of been more but we gave away an own goal just before half time so half time 0-2 to Llangefni.
Half Time 0-2
In the second half we had lost one of our players T.J who had had to come off not feeling well so we were down to seven players. Llangefni kept piling on the pressure and before long they had got another two goals, but we kept battling and Sophie Jones was doing some excellent surging runs down the wings and causing them some problems and it paid off in the end after an excellent kick out from Becky our goalie and some good midfield play from Eleanor Slack and Charlotte Cripps we managed to claw one back, so now 4-1 to Llangefni.
Llangefni were still pressuring us an unfortunately for us no matter how well we tried to defend we couldn’t contain their free flowing football which they were playing and Llangefni managed to get another three goals past us so final score 1-7 to Llangefni. Congrats to Sophie for getting MOM
Final Score 1-7
05-04-08: Colwyn Bay Bluebirds v Llangefni
This game was a game of two halves. Llangefni won the first and the Bay won the second. Llangefni kicked off and to be fair the first ten minutes it was end to end stuff and both teams were playing well and battling hard. But then Llangefni scored two quick goals within five minutes of each other and that boosted their confidence. Although we weren’t playing bad there didn’t seem any commitment or any aggression or belief in our game and although Becky Heap and Catherine Higgott were creating chances up front we just couldn’t get a goal.
About half way through the first half Llangefni got another after a long kick from their goalie wasn’t dealt with by our defence so now 3-0 to Llangefni. Our defence wasn’t playing bad and all our back three of Hannah Kelly Rhiannon Lloyd and Kayleigh Hobson were playing well, but Llangefni just had the edge to their game .Llangefni managed to get another before half time, but after a great surging run by Becky Heap and a cracking ball through to Catherine Higgott, we got our first goal so half time 1-4 to Llangefni.
Half Time 1-4
After a stern half time talk we came out with all guns blazing in the second half and within two minutes after some great build up play from midfield between Tasha Jones and Emma Thomas they put Becky through for her first goal of the game and our second. Our fight was back in our game and we were playing with more purpose but Llangefni got one back so now 5-2 to them.
That didn’t deter us though and with an inspirational second half Beck Heap scored another two to make her hat trick and Catherine Higgott got our equaliser and nearly twice got a winner. Our goalie Tavia had to go off at half time through injury and my left midfielder Lowri Jones went in and made two goal winning saves to keep us in the game and with Emma and Steph Dennis playing well in the second half we were unlucky not to win in the end an excellent turn round in the 2nd half girls well done you all deserved to get the result we got in the end, which was final score 5-5 unlucky not to win. A brilliant 2nd half performance .Congrats to Catherine for getting MOM
Final Score 5-5
31-03-08: Colwyn Bay Vs Kinmel Bay
Unfortunately for Kinmel Bay they started the match with ten players and it wasn’t their strongest squad either. Kinmel kicked off and it was quite obvious right from the start that it wasn’t going to be as hard a game as when we played them last time. After about five minutes Sue Harrison got our first goal and from then on we started to take control of the game. Not long after Becky Heap got our second after some good build up play from the back and then about half way through the first half Hayley Trimm got a cracking goal from the left after some good play down the left wing from Nic Cureton.
We were well in control now and Kinmel Bay's heads had dropped and we was playing some good flowing football before half time Sue Harrison got another and Simone Drummond scored a great solo goal from the right and lobbed the keeper.
Half Time 5-0
Second half Kinmel Bay re-grouped and came out with a bit more about them but it wasn’t long before we started to take control of the game once more and not before long, Stacey Tradewell, got on the score sheet after two excellent goals, one from about 20 yards out which was hit with a lot of venom and the second was an excellent lob. Unfortunately for Kinmel Bay not having their strongest squad out it wasn’t getting any better. Second half Sue Harrison got another two, Hayley Trimm got another two to get her hatrick so did Simone Drummond to get her hatrick and Becky Heap got her second of the game too.
Unfortunately for Kinmel Bay they lost another player in the 2nd half through injury with about 15 mins left so that put them down to nine players, but they never gave up and they kept battling but final score was 14-0 to the bay. Well done girls and congrats to Sue Harrison for getting MOM
Final score 14-0
31-03-08: Colwyn Bay Bluebirds v Rhyl Hearts Divas
Rhyl Hearts Divas are not a bad side but although they played nine against our eight, they had a shock on how well we played. Rhyl kicked off and started the game well, but although they had one more player than us, we were dealing with it really well. The first half was end to end and both sides had chances but were cancelling each other out, but on about 25 minutes after a Rhyl corner they got a scrappy goal from a goal mouth scramble, so 1-0 to Rhyl.
After the restart we seemed more determined and it paid off as in the last ten minutes of the first half we scored two excellent goals. The 1st after a great move from the back and it came out to Lowri Jones on the left who hit a sweet left foot shot which lobbed the keeper. The second goal was after a great kick out from Tavia Lloyd and a great ball through from Catherine Higgott to Becky Heap who only had the goalie to beat and put in the bottom right corner so half time 2-1 to the Bay.
Half Time 2-1
Second half Rhyl came out on the up and within five minutes they caught us napping and got an equaliser.
After that it could have gone either way as both sides were playing well, but it was the Bay who had just got the edge and got the winner after a great shot from Catherine Higgott was parried down by the Rhyl goalie and Becky Heap followed it up to head it home so final score 3-2 to the Bay. Congrats to Becky Heap for getting MOM
Final Score 3-2
09-03-08: COLWYN BAY LADIES V PWLLHELI LADIES
Our last encounter was a win for the Bay but this time things were different. Pwllheli had some key players back in their squad and we were some key players missing, namely our goalie Nathania and right winger Nonie. But the two players who took there place were Jess Wall in goal and Simi on the right and they filled there boots competently. Pwllheli kicked off and started the game really well and we didn’t come out of the blocks at all to begin with. There was no urgency to our game and Pwllheli were up for it more than we were and with about 10 minutes gone after a good through ball to Pwllheli striker Jodie Banks they scored their first goal.
After that, although we had chances we could not get hold of the game at all and we didn’t look like we wanted the ball but Pwllheli did.
But on about 35 minutes, after some good play down the left, our striker Stacey Tradewell went past three players on the edge of the box and released a cracking right foot shot which thundered into the top right hand corner of the Pwllheli goal so half -time all square 1-1.
Half Time 1-1
In the second half, we came out with a bit more purpose but still couldn’t get hold of the game, Stacey came close from a free kick and Sue and Natalie both came close on goal a couple of times and Simmy made some good runs but Pwllheli were defending well and causing us some problems up front too if not for some excellent and committed defending from our back four of Sali Anderson, Debbie Flatley, Hayley Farrington and Nic. Cureton we could of been a few down. Our stand in goalie Jess was having a good game too. But final score was I think a fair result1-1.Congrats to Hayley F who got MOM
Full Time 1-1
8-03-08: Colwyn Bay v Prestatyn u13s girls
Once again the Rockets were up against the odds we only had six players and Prestatyn played seven against our six and had three subs as well. We was kicking up hill first half and had the wind against us and we started the game really well, with Becky Williams in goal Rachel Webb, Amy Hughes and Dion Brisque in defence and pushing into midfield and T.J and Sophie Jones as midfield/strikers we had the perfect start and after a great through ball to Sophie who took on their defender and slotted the ball in the bottom right corner so 1-0 to the Bay.
Prestatyn were shell shocked and we were playing some good football and battling hard and running and covering every inch of the field .Considering they had one extra player they wasn’t gaining from it. We were staging attack wave after attack wave with all our defenders taking it in turns to push up and we had quite a few chances and if not for Prestatyn Goalie we could of had a few more goals. But unfortunately for Prestatyn after a great surging run by Rachel Webb from the back who passed it out wide on the left to Sophie Jones, she hit it and unfortunately their goalie fumbled it and it trickled in to make 2-0 to the Bay at half -time.
Half Time 2-0
In the second half Prestatyn came out with more intent and were playing a lot better and although we were playing down hill and had the wind with us they were making the game a lot harder for us and playing some good football and if not for some great defending by all three defenders and Becky our goalie they could of scored a few more goals than they did. But on about twenty minutes after a good move by Prestatyn they scored. So the last ten minutes for us we had to defend really well. We had a few chances too, but we managed to hold out so final score 2-1 to the Bay. Well done girls a great game you fully deserved to win to all played fantastic and congrats to T.J for getting MOM really proud and pleased of the way you all played
Final Score 2-1
02-03-08: VICARS CROSS VS COLWYN BAY
This was the girl’s first outing of the New Year due to the weather and lack of players, and what a game it turned out to be. We only had seven players in the first half and Vicars Cross played nine, which I thought was a little unsporting. Our team consisted of Tavia Lloyd in goal, Rhiannon Lloyd at right back; Hannah Kelly centre back, Lowri Jones left back, Emma Thomas and Tasha Jones midfield, while Becky Heap played as our lone striker.
Considering Vicars Cross had two extra players the way we were playing it didn’t seem like it. We were playing brilliant, playing some excellent football and chasing and running after everything and if not for some good defending and goalkeeping by Vicars Cross we could have been two or three up at half time but half time it was 0-0
Half Time 0-0
The second half, due to other commitments we lost Becky up front so now only having six players they dropped down to 8 (how kind), but we came out with even more force in the second half and although Vicars Cross had a lot more chances than us in the second half and we was playing against the wind we kept battling and running and chasing after everything.
Vicars Cross should have put away a few chances in the second half but our goalie Tavia pulled off some brilliant and brave saves and really saved the day. Just towards the end she pulled off a double save after Vicars Cross had hit the post and we managed to scramble it away. But because of our determination and spirit and commitment they just couldn’t score so final score 0-0.
We fully deserved that point girls you all played outstanding that was like a win for us. Congrats to Tavia for getting MOM, but like everyone said you all deserved it today you should be very proud of yourselves
Final Score 0-0
02-03-8: LLANDUDNO JUNCTION VS COLWYN BAY
These games are usually close and very physical and today’s game was no exception. The Bay kicked off and for the first 10 to 15 minutes it was quite a bit of nip and tuck game with both sides playing quite well, but after that things started to get a bit dirty and there were tackles flying in all over the place. Although we weren’t playing our best, Junction were getting very frustrated with our play and on about 20 minutes one of their players and our players had a 50/50 tackle and their player Gail Naylor didn’t like it and as our player (Sue Harrison) went to get up Gail kicked her in the behind. The ref saw this and unfortunately for her she was sent off. Now Junction were down to ten men and were getting very agitated with the whole of the game.
We kept our cool and tried to play some good football on a very heavy pitch and it paid off as on about 30 minutes after some good build up play, Natalie Heap put Becky Heap through and their goalie never collected it properly and Becky put us 1-0 up. We started playing a bit better and just before half time we got a penalty which Stacey Tradewell stepped up to take but unfortunately missed so half time 1-0 to the Bay.
In the second half we came out more calm and collected much to dismay of junction and straight away from the kick off, with some good passing play from Stacey and Simmy, Becky and Sue we nearly scored.
We were playing quite well now but Junction were still biting at our ankles and causing us some problems. On about 25 minutes after some brilliant skills from Simone Drummond she got bought down in the box for another penalty. Sue Harrison took this one and although the goalie Amy Evans saved it initially, Sue followed it up and put in the bottom left corner. So 2-0 to the Bay.
We tried to slow the game down a bit now but Junction were having none of it and kept battling against us and that paid off for them as with about 5 minutes left they were awarded a corner, from which they scored.
After that they just threw everyone forward to try and get an equaliser and the last few minutes was nail biting for us but we managed to hold them off so final score 2-1 to the Bay.
Well done ladies not a pretty game but you all showed a lot of spirit, commitment and your attitude in the second half was just what we needed.
Congrats to Sue for getting MOM
27-02-08: NEW LADIES MANAGER AT THE HELM
It was announced this week that Neil Todd was installed as the ladies manager. It was also announced that Shane Cartwright is also coming on board as the ladies team coach.
23-02-08: COLWYN BAY V PWLLHELI
This was our second game of the year due to bad weather and coming off the back of our 2-0 win over Llangefni last week confidence was up and spirits were high.
Pwllheli are a rough and physical side so we knew it was going to be a tough game. Pwllheli kicked off and for the first ten minutes we were still feeling our feet a bit as we hadn’t played them this season yet and although we was playing well, Pwllheli was too. But on about 15 min’s Natalie Heap put a cracking ball through to Becky Heap who put it across the Pwllheli box for Sue Harrison to run on to and fire into the bottom right corner leaving the keeper stranded, so 1-0 to the Bay. After that we seemed to settle a lot more and started to pass the ball round well, Natalie came close from a free kick and so did Stacey Tradewell hitting one just over the bar from about 25 yards out but half-time it was 1-0 to the Bay.
Half Time 1-0
2nd half we kicked off and we went a bit wayward for the first 10 to 15 min’s and a bit of panic started to set into our game for some reason and if not for a very brave save from our keeper Nathania Scyner it could have been 1-1.
Pwllheli started to get back into the game a bit but just after that spell Sue Harrison got her and our 2nd of the game, 2-0 the Bay. We then started to get back in the rhythm of our game and after some good build up play Becky Heap was bought down in the Pwllheli box and the resulting penalty was put calmly and coolly away by Stacey Tradewell so now 3-0 to the Bay.
We started to relax now and were passing the ball round really well and Pwllheli was getting really frustrated with our play. Not before long after some good play right from Captain Sali Anderson at the back through to Sue Harrison up front she took on one of their defenders and got her 3rd and the Bays 4th of the game and to end the rout Natalie Heap got our 5th of the game right at the end with a low hard drive into the bottom right corner which the Pwllheli goalie had no chance with.
Final score 5-0
MOM - Stacey Tradewell
17-02-08: Llangefni Ladies vs. Colwyn Bay FC Ladies
Due to bad weather over the last few months this was Colwyn Bays first game of the year and it showed, as in the first half we was a little bit rusty. Llangefni kicked off and put us under a lot of early pressure and if not for our back four of Catrin Wright who had a great game, Hayley Farrington, Sali Anderson and Nicola Cureton we could have been in trouble.
The first half was a game of nip and tuck between both teams and both the Bay and Llangefni were playing good football and both sides had chances to score but at half-time it was all square at 0-0.
Half Time 0-0
After a good confab between both manager and players in the half-time team talk we decided to go with three at the back and push Hayley Farrington up just in front of defence and just behind midfield to help in both areas and what a difference it made. Within two minutes of the second half starting, we broke down the left with Hayley Trimm who put a good ball through to Sue Harrison who put young Becky Heap away with only the goalie to beat and she calmly put it in the bottom right corner so one nil to the Bay.
After that we started to settle a bit more and relax and started playing some excellent passing football. Llangefni just couldn’t get hold of the game and about half way through Hayley Trimm put a cracking ball from the left to the right to put Nonie Mahoney away who beat her player and slotted it in the bottom left corner to beat the stranded Llangefni keeper.
We were now starting to play some exciting football and if not for the Llangefni keeper Karen making some good saves it could have been a few more. But well done ladies a good start to 2008 for us and second half was 100% better. A good squad game with everyone playing their part in the match, even the subs and congratulations to Nonie for getting MOM for us. Really proud of you all today ladies, well done
Final Score 2-0
12-01-2008: COLWYN BAY VS MOSTYN
This was our first game of the New Year and last time we played Mostyn they played nine against our seven, a little unfair but there you go. We lost four nil last time but this time they played six against our six, but they had the advantage of having three subs.
The game started well with Mostyn kicking off and they are a good passing side with two or three good players. First half was pretty even to begin with as both sides coming close but it was Mostyn who scored first about mid way through the half. We then had to withstand quite a lot of pressure but our back three of Rachel Webb, Amy Hughes and Becky Williams were all playing well and if not for three superb saves from our goalie Sophie we could have been more down at half time, but at half time it was 0-1 to Mostyn.
I changed things round at half time and bought Sophie out of goal as she is an excellent outfield player too. Becky Williams went in goal and played very well and with Charlotte and Sophie now in midfield and TJ as our lone striker our game plan started to work and Sophie was ding some excellent runs down both wings and causing Mostyn some real problems and not before long it paid off and after a good ball form TJ from the right into the box Sophie ran in and slotted the ball home from close range.
Now Mostyn were on the back foot and how we didn’t get a winner is beyond belief. Mostyn had a couple of breaks but we had most of the possession and were playing really well. But in the dying minute’s Mostyn got a late winner, but straight from the kick-off we almost equalised when Sophie hit the post and we also had a shot from Rachel Webb just fizz past the other post and also their goalie made a good double save, but final score 1-2 to Mostyn.
I think a fair result would have been a draw but well done Mostyn and well done girls for playing brilliant and never giving up specially in the second half you all gave 150% today. Congrats to Sophie Jones for getting man of the match a tough decision but well deserved.
16-12-07: Pwllheli vs. Colwyn Bay Rockets
This game was played on a different day to what we usually play which was Sunday and beings as I was running the 15’s on the opposite pitch to the one the 13’s were playing on. I didn’t see the whole of the match and I would just like to thank Steve and Mike for running the team for me on the day. The first half was a game of nip and tuck and both sides had chances and our goalie Sophie made quite a few saves in this half to keep us in the game. Both sides were equally matched and it was end to end stuff but half time it was 0-0.
Half Time 0-0
Second half we lost our way a bit and before we knew it we were 2-0 down and Pwllheli were on top. But as all our girls always do we kept battling and we slowly clawed our way back into the game and not before long Rachel had an excellent solo rundown the left hand side taking on three players on the way and from the acutest of angles shot the ball between the near post and the Pwllheli goalie for our first goal, so now 2-1. This really raised spirits and we was now playing some good football and after a tactical change from Steve bringing Sophie out of goal and putting Becky in this seemed to change the pace of the game and not long after Eleanor got the equalizer. We was now pushing for a winner but Pwllheli was not giving in easy and still making a game of it also playing some good football we nearly got a late winner from Sophie but the ref blew for full-time. So final score 2-2 a fair result in the end. Well done girls. Congrats to Sophie for getting MOTM in our last game of 2007. So let’s hope we can start 2008 the same way. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Thanks to all the parents for their support on the day especially to Steve and Mike for running the team for me.
Final; Score 2-2
16-12-07: Pwllheli vs. Colwyn Bay Girls
A cold bright day to start our last game of 2007and not having a full squad we started the game well with Catherine upfront as a lone striker with the help of Lowri and Tash in midfield. My back three of Hannah, Kayleigh and Rhiannon started the game really well holding off quite a few early attacks from Pwllheli and Tavia my goalie once again pulled off some early good saves, but unfortunately for us against the run of play on fifteen minutes into the game Pwllheli got their first goal. It was a good shot which Tavia saved but couldn’t hold onto and their striker followed it up and popped it into the bottom left corner. After that we started to play some really good football and for the rest of the first half we pinned Pwllheli back in there half. Catherine came close twice so did Tasha and so did Kayleigh ,we could of been 3-1 up at half time but at half time it was still 1-0 to Pwllheli.
Half Time 1-0
In the second half we started really well again and played some good passing football with Tash and Lowri linking up well with Catherine upfront and Rhiannon at the back was playing outstanding and cutting out the left winger every time. Lowri was doing some surging runs down the left and causing their defence some problems, but Pwllheli were still battling hard and not giving up without a fight. Towards the end of the second half we started to tire a bit as they had two subs and were rolling them on and off to good effect and deep into the 2nd half Pwllheli got two late goals so final score 3-0 to Pwllheli, but well done girls a very valiant performance and congrats to Tavia for getting MOTM
Full Time 3-0
18-11-07: Colwyn Bay ladies vs. Wrexham Ladies
This was the second round of the Welsh cup and the second week in succession that we have played Wrexham. We needed to win this to progress through to the next round and unfortunately for us we could not use our home ground as the pitch wasn’t available and that’s why we were playing at Eirias park. We started the game quite well and there was a lot of expectation and a lot of people were hoping we would get a good result and on about nine minutes after a through ball from Hayley Farrington to Stacey Tradewell in midfield she turned one of there players and hit a cracking shot from just outside the box just over the bar and not long after on about fourteen minutes Rhiannon Mahoney picked up the ball on the right hand side and hit a shot from just inside the box which came inches close to the left post and just went wide. The starting signs were really positive and we were playing some good football and really pressurising Wrexham into theirown half. On twenty minutes after a cracking corner from Stacey Tradewell, Sue Harrison rose above everybody else to head the ball just over the bar.
In the second half we came out and started quite well but Wrexham were playing a lot better this half and were giving us the run around and playing some good football. They were starting to pressurise us now and we were on the back foot. We had lost our shape and our positional play had gone a bit haywire. Wrexham were having a few more chances now and they were playing the better football and if not for some wide shots and a couple of good saves from Nathania they could have been more than 1-0 up. After a while we started to get back into the game and push Wrexham a bit more for an equaliser and on 30 minutes after a goal mouth scramble from a corner Sue Harrison hit the ball underneath Amber Dean's body into the bottom left corner to get the equaliser. We start to apply a lot of pressure now and was going for a winner but once again, unfortunately for us Wrexham again caught us on the break to go 2-1 up. Then deep into injury time theygot there third after a long ball over the top of our defence.
Full Time 1-3
10-11-07: Colwyn Bay under 15’s vs. Flint
The game started well for the Colwyn Bay under 15’s and they were playing well, putting some good passes together. Becky Heap and Tasha Jones were playing well up front and causing the Flint defence a few problems, but unfortunately against the run the of play on about twenty minutes, Flint got their first goal of the game. The Bay then started to have to soak up a lot of pressure from Flint and although the back three of Hannah Kelly, Rhiannon Lloyd and Kayleigh Hobson were holding strong and doing some excellent defending. Just before half-time Flint got a lucky second goal which our goalie Tavia had covered but it just crept underneath her.
Half Time 0-2
In the second half the bay were playing really well and the manager had bought on Catherine up front and put Natasha in centre of midfield. The manager also bought on Colwyn Bay’s latest signing, Steph on the left who was playing quite well. The Bay had Flint pinned in their half for a while and Becky was carving out some good chances up front and if not for two or three excellent saves from Flint’s goalie the Bay could of been back in the game. Catherine was playing really well up front and battling really hard with a strong performance. Lowri came back on for Steph and was making some good runs down the left and putting in some good balls from the left but the girls just couldn’t get that elusive goal. Just before the end from a corner came a goal mouth scramble and another lucky goal for Flint. Congratulations to Becky Heap for getting MOTM. Keep battling girls you never give up.
Final Score 0-3
11-11-07: Wrexham Ladies vs. Colwyn Bay Ladies
This was always going to be a tough ‘top of the table’ match and it turned out to be just that. Colwyn Bay started the game a bit slowly and Wrexham came at them straight from the off which the Bay knew they would and for the first ten minutes they pressurised Bay, but then after that, the Bay started to get hold of the game and play some good passing football. On about twelve minutes after an excellent long ball from captain Sali Anderson down the right to striker Sue Harrison who went past the Wrexham defender and slipped it into the bottom left corner of the goal past the on coming goalie Amber Dean putting the Bay one up. Wrexham threw everything at the Bay for the rest of the first half but Colwyn Bay dealt with it comfortably and professionally. The Bay had quite a few chances in the first half. Another from Sue Harrison, one from Sara Williams and two more from Rhiannon Mahoney, as well as Simone Drummond but just could not get that second goal they so desperately needed
Half Time 0-1
In the second half, Wrexham came out with more purpose and although the Bay were still playing well, Wrexham were really making a game of it and keeping the pressure on the Bay a lot more. The game was end to end in the second half and both teams had a hatful of chances.
Colwyn Bay nearly put the game beyond doubt on seventy five minutes when Simone Drummond broke clear and put Natalie Heap through in the box only to be tackled just as she was about to shoot, but it was Wrexham who had the last word with about five minutes to go. A ball came over from the left and which should have been an offside decision which the linesman flagged and the ref over ruled. Wrexham got a late equaliser.
Final Score 1-1
04-11-07: Kinmel Bay vs. Colwyn Bay
Today was a day to forget performance wise but it all started so well. Once again Colwyn Bay started really brightly and for the third time this season within the first minute Colwyn Bay had got their first goal from a run from Simone Drummond, who knocked it into the box from the left hand side and her strike partner Sue Harrison was given space to knock the ball in the bottom left corner to put Colwyn Bay into an early lead.
The Bay got a bit then complacent after that and thought it was going to be easy but Kinmel Bay started playing some good football and on the twelfth minute earned themselves a dubious penalty, which their player stepped up and calmly knocked it into the bottom left corner so now to make the game all square
The wheels fell off the Colwyn Bay bandwagon after this and the Bay started running round like headless chickens, making all sorts of silly mistakes. They weren’t supporting each other, there was no communication and the girls weren’t using the wings like they should have been.
On about thirty minutes after a bit of pressure from Kinmel Bay they were awarded a corner and from that corner after a defensive and goalkeeping mix up Kinmel Bay got their second of the game.
Kinmel were now on top and Colwyn Bay were chasing the game but were still able to apply some pressure to Kinmel Bay. On forty minutes after a cross from the right from Sara Williams, Kelsey Evans for the second week running got our second of the game and her second of the season.
Half Time 2-2
The second half started and the Bay came out a bit better but they still couldn’t break Kinmel bay down as the Bay’s passing was still a bit sloppy. They had quite a few chances but so did Kinmel Bay and if it wasn’t for some excellent defending and tackles by our centre backs Hayley Farringdon and Sali Anderson, we could have been 3-2 down. Kinmel Bay were still trying for a third goal and pushing hard and actually playing some good football, but we couldn’t get our rhythm going at all. We swapped Hayley Trimm on the left for Charlotte Miliziano to introduce some fresh legs but although she was playing well it didn’t seem to make much impact on the game.
All our substitutes when they came on Becky Morgans, Debbie Flatley and Sophie Price all played well but it was just one of them days where the girls just couldn’t do anything right. A real bad day at the office. Never mind ladies lets just forget about that game now and get on with the rest of the season. Even the best teams in the world have off games
Full Time 2-2
29-10-07: LLANDUNO VS COLWYN BAY
Once again this was always going to be a tough match against two local rival teams. The pitch was very heavy and muddy with lots of leaves on the surface down the one side which didn’t help our game. We had told the ladies it was going to be extremely slippy under foot on the pitch and until we got used to it we were slipping and sliding everywhere. We started kicking down hill in the first half and to begin with, although we were playing OK, it wasn’t the football we usually play. Junction weren’t causing us any major problems but if it wasn’t for our back four of Nick Hayley Sali and Jess being such a strong force it could have been a different story. We were pressuring Junction all the while and other than the odd break which they had which rarely amounted to anything we were a constant threat in their half and all that pressure paid off as on twenty minutes we got a free kick after Kelsey Evans was brought down about twenty five yards out and Natalie stepped up to take the free kick and scored a cracking goal from it to put the Bay one up.
We couldn’t get hold of the game really then and there was not enough communication between the squad and although we were creating chances from Natalie on the left and Nonie on the right there didn’t seem to be anybody in the middle when the ball came over, but continued to look comfortable until half time
Half Time 1-0
The second half started a lot better with Charlotte Miliziano coming on for Simone Drummond up front and she played really well. On about five minutes of the second half Natalie was put through by Kelsey Evans with a one on one with Heather. The Junction goalie came out to it but Natalie coolly slipped it in the right corner underneath Heather to put the Bay 2-0 up. Although we were in control of the game and not playing bad we could of still been playing better than we were but Junction as they always are were very physical and battling hard but they still weren’t causing us any major problems. As the game went on it was evident that as we were playing up hill in the second half our fitness started to show and on about twenty five minutes Natalie put a great cross over into the box for to Kelsey Evans to slide onto for our third and her first goal of the season. After that we put more fresh legs on and swapped Hayley Trimm for Dani Eckersley. Dani went on the right and we pushed Nonie upfront with Charlotte and Dani really teased them down that right hand side with her pace and put some cracking balls across into the box. Unfortunately Nonie had to come off with bad cramp and Debbie Flatley went upfront with Charlotte for the last ten minutes of the game and Debs played really well when she came on strong and determined. A good squad effort from the ladies once again we got the job done.
Final Score 3-0
20-10-07: Colwyn Bay Rockets (u13) vs. Kinmel Bay
Once again today the Rockets were up against the odds as they only had six players against Kinmel’s full squad of ten players, seven starting plus three subs, which they kept rotating to keep all their players fresh. The Bay started well and for the first ten minutes were keeping up with Kinmel, but unfortunately for the Bay, from an early corner Kinmel bay scored their first goal. The Bay were still playing well. TJ, playing as a lone was having an excellent game upfront, while Charlotte Cripps was making some excellent runs from defence, but Kinmel were pressuring the Rockets a lot and each time they attacked, they were through on goal.
Sophie Jones, the Bay’s goalie was pulling off some brilliant saves as always. Kinmel Bay managed to get another goal before half-time, but the Bay never gave up. Amy Hughes and Dion Brisque the Bay’s new signing were battling well in midfield. Amy was making a few cracking runs down the right and nearly scored off one of them but the Bay just couldn’t pull one back before the break
Half-time 2-0.
Amy moved into the defence for the second half as she wasn’t feeling too clever and Charlotte moved up into midfield. The Rockets still kept battling well and hard and Becky Williams, playing as left back was making some good crunching tackles and playing hard. Kinmel Bay were finding it hard to get through for a while, but they finally did get through twice more and scored another two goals in the second half, but not before we had a few chances when we could have scored. The Bay’s goalie Sophie, made a few more cracking saves but the extra players available old in the end as Kinmel Bay won this fixture. Well Done to all the girls for an outstanding battling performance and especially to Sophie Jones for the MOM award
Full Time 4-0
14-10-07: Colwyn Bay vs. Wrexham
Today was going to be one of Colwyn Bay’s toughest games so far this season against Wrexham, who are a really good footballing side, and what a game it turned out to be. Colwyn Bay won the toss and kicked off. The Colwyn Bay ladies were ahead in under a minute after Rhiannon Mahoney; playing as a right winger had a great run down the right before putting in a good ball into the box for Sue Harrison. Sue slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to put the Bay one up.
It was just the start the Bay wanted, but unfortunately for the Bay, Wrexham replied soon after when on nine minutes, ex Colwyn Bay player Kerry broke through the Bay’s defence to get the equaliser. Now it was game on and for the next twenty five minutes the game could have gone either way. Although Colwyn Bay had an awful lot of possession and spent a lot of time in the Wrexham half, Wrexham were always looking dangerous on the break. Had it not for the cross bar which Wrexham were unfortunate to hit as well as two good saves from our goalie, Nathania, Wrexham could of been four one up, but luck and good fortune was with the Bay today.
On thirty five minutes, the Bay won a free kick just outside Wrexham’s eighteen yard box on the right side. Stacey was going to take it but manager, Steve Cartwright asked one of the centre backs Natalie Heap to step up and have a go. She did and scored an absolutely brilliant free kick curling it in to the top left corner. That decision from the manager seemed to change the game.
Half Time 1-0
The second half started with the Bay temporarily down to ten players as our right winger Rhiannon was nursing a sore shoulder after a tumble near the end of the first half, but she eventually went back on and the Bay really started to up their game and play some good football. Even though Wrexham were still playing well, the Bay always looked comfortable and were handling everything Wrexham threw at them.
After seventy minutes, the Bay started to make a few changes and bought Charlotte Miliziano on at left wing for Hayley Trimm. Catrin Wright also came on for Jess Wall at right back, while Debbie Flatley came on at left back for Nicky Cureton.
The changes didn’t alter the shape or style played by the Bay at all. They were still playing some good football and on seventy minutes Rhiannon Mahoney was put away down the right wing. She took on their left back and released a wicked right foot shot from just outside the box from the tightest of angles, which rocketed in the top left corner to score Colwyn Bay’s third goal of the afternoon. Colwyn Bay were now in complete control after this point and Wrexham couldn’t get hold of the game at all.
Sophie Price came on for Sara Williams and with about fifteen minutes left, Becky Morgan’s came on for Simone Drummond.
Just before full-time, Stacey Tradewell put a defence splitting ball through for Becky to run onto. Under immense pressure, Becky coolly put the ball in the bottom left corner for Colwyn Bay’s fourth of the afternoon. It was an absolute brilliant performance from everyone today. Not just from the starting eleven, but also from all the subs that came on too.
I would just like to say a big thank you to all our support today. From all our supporters that came and watched the ladies game today it was great to see so many people there. Let’s try and make it more a regular thing at home games please as the ladies really appreciated it.
Final Score 4-1
21-10-07: Ladies F.A.W. Cup - Llangefni vs. Colwyn Bay Ladies
Today was the first round of the Welsh Cup and if the ladies had lost they were out, but coming off the back of the excellent result Colwyn Bay had last week against Wrexham, the squad were brimming with confidence and spirits were high, with a good attitude for the game. Colwyn Bay started the game well and were putting Llangefni under a lot of pressure. For the first ten minutes Colwyn Bay played the game in Llangefni’s half of the field and it was a case of when, not if Colwyn Bay would open the scoring
After about fifteen minutes, Nicky Cureton put a superb ball down the left wing and put Natalie Heap away. Natalie went past her marker before cutting inside and released a cracking left foot shot that the goalie got a hand to, but couldn’t stop. Once the ladies started, there was no stopping them as in the next fifteen minute phase if the game, they were to find the net three more times without reply. Two were scored by Simone Drummond and another from Sue Harrison, who latched onto the ball and netted home after some disastrous defending and a goal-keeping error.
Half Time 4-0
The ladies came out for the second half looking in full control of the game and although Llangefni had a few chances, it wasn’t really anything that the ladies couldn’t deal with. It was another two second half goals that sealed the win from Simone and Sue Harrison for the ladies. The ladies were playing some excellent football in the second half and it could have been more as Sue hit the bar from a penalty and midfielder Sara Williams hit the bar from an excellent thirty yard strike. If it had not for Llangefni’s goal keeper Karen, who pulled off some excellent saves it could have been a bit of a rout, but the final score was six nil to the Bay. Yet another excellent result and an excellent squad display.
Final Score 6-0

13-10-07: Colwyn Bay (Under 15’s) vs. Mold
Mold was last year’s league champions so this was always going to be a tough game and it didn’t disappoint. We won the toss and decided to change round and kick up hill first half. Mold kicked off and straight from that moment they came at us and it was constant pressure from them for the first ten to 15 minutes. They were playing some excellent football but to be fair to us we were defending absolutely brilliantly and very strong in the tackle and at first Mold couldn’t get through us at all. Although Mold had a lot of possession we were playing well and my left mid player Lowri was having a cracking game and doing some good runs down the left and linking up well with Becky and Laura upfront. We had a few chances in the first half but Mold are an all round good team and we just couldn’t get that goal we needed. On about 30 minutes I swapped Tasha for Catherine and she played really well when she came on and was giving Mold a hard time. Also their right winger wasn’t getting any change from Rhiannon my left back who was having a cracking game. So half time all square at 0-0.
we kicked off the second half and was kicking down hill but that didn’t bother Mold as they started where they left off and just kept pressuring us from the kick off and if not for some good defending by Kayleigh Hobson and Hannah McGoona as well as three excellent saves with some good goal-keeping from Tavia, my goalie we could of been a few down. Mold did hit the woodwork twice, but unfortunately for us their pressure paid off and on about 20 minutes from a long throw in one of their forwards flicked it on with their head and it went into the top left hand corner .1-0 to Mold but although they kept pressuring us and had a lot of possession we were battling hard and still defending valiantly. I had fetched my new signing Steph Dennis on just before half time and she was playing well considering it was her first game for us, and i think we deserved a draw as we all played well really against a well organised Mold side .But the final score was 1-0 to Mold .I thought we was a little unlucky today girls but never mind well done.
Congratulations to Tavia for getting m.o.t.m well deserved
30-09-07: Colwyn Bay Vs Llangefni (Ladies)
This was our second game of the season but our first home game of the season. We had almost a full squad bar our goalie Nathania missing so our centre midfielder Sara went in goal once again and our right winger Rhiannon was missing also.
We started the game quite slowly really and we looked at bit disjointed at first but within ten minutes we had got our first goal in the form of our new striker Simone Drummond. It came from good play midfield and switched over to the right to Stacey Tradewell who in turn put the ball low over into the box and Simi was there to pop it into the bottom left corner. Unfortunately after that though although we wasn’t playing bad we was giving the ball away 2 cheaply and we couldn’t get any rhythm into our play no matter how hard we tried.
Half Time 1-0
After a good half time talk and Steve swapping things round a bit by putting Jess Wall at right back our captain Sali back at centre back and moving Kelsey Evans up into centre mid with Stacey Tradewell things now started to move And we were playing some really good football. Vicky Byrnes had been put on the right after a long absence from the squad for Becky Morgan’s and was playing well then about half way through the second half Stacey Tradewell hit one of her trademark Tradewell screamers from about 25 yards out to make it 2-0 to the bay. The goals kept coming then and with Jess Wall being swapped with Debbie Flatley and Simi being swapped for Charlotte Miliziano Charlotte got her first goal for the senior squad of the season which she hit from close range the goalie fumbled it and she followed it in and popped it in so 3-0 to the bay.
Then another one of our up and coming youngsters came on Laura Edwards who played really well when she came on she slotted straight into the right midfield. Just before the game ended Colwyn Bay had the last word and once again our midfield maestro
Stacey Tradewell picked the ball up from midfield and took the ball passed a couple of players through to a one on one with the goalie and slotted it in the bottom left hand corner. Well dome ladies a great second half performance and well done to Nicky Cureton for getting man of the match.
Full Time 4-0
29-09-07: Colwyn Bay Bluebirds (under 15’s) vs. Prestatyn
This was the under 15’s first game of the season and I knew it was going to be a tough game as Prestatyn are a very good and well organised side.
Our under 15’s squad this season is quite strong as I have got three of last years under 15’s still playing for me in Becky Heap, Laura Edwards and Hannah Mc Goona, and what a difference they made .I lost my main striker in Holly Petters but I put Becky and Laura upfront instead and what a game they both had.
We started the game quite slow slowly as Hannah Becky and Laura hadn’t played with the other girls before and we were giving Prestatyn too much of the ball and as a team we weren’t gelling at all to begin with. After about 20 minutes from a good kick from our goalie Tavia and some good midfield play from Lowry my left midfielder and Tasha my centre mid player they played a great ball up to Laura who in turn put a defence splitting ball through to Becky who got our first goal. After that Becky hit the post twice before half-time Tavia pulled off a couple of cracking saves from Prestatyn who were pushing hard for an equaliser and playing some excellent football and the game could have gone either way but half -time it was 1-0 to the bay.
second half we was starting to gel a lot more and I had put one of my subs on Catherine Higgott and she was playing quite well so to was my other sub Kayleigh. One of my new signings Emma was playing really well and battling really hard in right midfield. With about 10 mins gone after a good break from the back between my right back Hannah mc Goona and my centre back Hannah Kelly the ball came over to Becky on the left who put Laura through to score a cracking second goal so 2-0 to the bay .
Not long after that Becky heap got her second of the game and our third by rifling one from close range into the roof of the net. Although we were 3-0 up Prestatyn were playing some good football still and it paid off for them as about 15 to 20 mins into the second half they got their first goal it came from a low hard shot from the right through a crowd of players and our goalie Tavia didn’t really see it to the last minute when it ended up in the bottom corner of our net. This really inspired Prestatyn now and they were pushing really hard for a second goal and if not for a another excellent save from our goalie Tavia and excellent defending from her sister Rhiannon they could of got another. But it was my other new striker Laura who had the last word in the game and with some good play right from the back up to Becky and Laura upfront who played a cracking one two with each other Laura got her second and our fourth of the game .So the final score 4-1 to the bay cracking game to watch and a good second half performance girls well done .congrats to Becky heap for getting M.O.M.
23-09-2007: CORWEN vs. COLWYN BAY
Our first game of the season and with a few players gone and a few new players coming in it was quite a fresh new look to the ladies side. Corwen had a few chances too and they had quite a few new young players in their squad.
The first 10 to 15 min’s both teams were finding their feet a bit, but just after that Stacey Tradewell scored an absolute screamer from about 20-25 yards out so 1-0 to the Bay. That seemed to settle us down a bit and we then started playing some good passing football. We was putting Corwen under a lot of pressure and creating lots of chances but we just couldn’t get the ball in the net. But before half-time we got another 2 goals one from an excellent move from midfield ending up with one of our new signings Simone Drummond putting the ball neatly in the bottom left hand corner and the other from one of our young up and coming players Becky Morgan’s who took it really well and hammered past the goalie in the right bottom corner. So half-time 3-0 to the bay.
The second half was better than the first with the whole team playing some excellent football really flowing and it was all one way traffic. Corwen just couldn’t get into our half and with our new signings of Hayley Farrington +Kelsey Evans at centre mid +Nicky Cureton & Catrin Wright also in defence nothing was getting past us at all. We was pushing all the while into there half and playing some excellent football and with 4 more goals coming in the second half from Jess Wall ,Hayley Trimm and 2 from our captain for the day Sue Harrison who did a great job ,the final score was 7-0 to the bay. A good job well done ladies
22-09-2007: Mostyn Dragons vs. Colwyn Bay Rockets
Unfortunately we have only got 9 in the squad this season and we was 2 down today so we only started with 7.Mostyn would not go down to 7 so they played with 9 ,so we was up against the odds before we started. We started the game really well and we was creating some chances for ourselves and holding our own considering we was playing against 9.Our new goalie Sophie was playing really well and pulled off quite a good few saves. The Mostyn Ref and manager for some reason played 4 15 min’s instead of 2 halves so that put us off a bit too. After the first 2 15 min’s we were 2-0 down but saying that we had loads of chances including a cracking shot from TJ after a great kick out from Sophie so at half-time 2-0 to Mostyn.
3rd quarter once again we give our all and Charlotte was doing some cracking runs from defence and Rachel was solid at centre back and Becky in defence was doing quite well too. Eleanor had been causing problems for Mostyn all day and she was having a good game too Mostyn never scored in the 3rd quarter but unfortunately for us they got 2 late goals in the 4th quarter but we came close in getting a consolation goal Rachel hit the post in the dying minutes .So final score Mostyn 4 Colwyn Bay 0 .Really proud of you all today girls you never gave up well done you all played really well. We will have them next time when we have a full squad .Congratulations to Sophie on getting W.O.M. today
the rockets only had seven players also and in some of their games were playing against nine they only lost one game in the group stage and managed to get through to the semis against a team called fillies from liverpool who they had beat in the group stage 1-0 and fillies played nine against our seven but unfortunately for the girls who had two new player s in the squad in our goalie sophie jones who come up from the bullets and new signing amy hughes from llysfaen, fillies beat us this time 1-0.but all the rockets played outstanding through the whole of the tournament especially t.j,sophie our goalie who played outstanding rachel new signing amy hughes, and eleanor who wasnt fully fit and was nursing a bad hip and groin .but well done girls its looking good for the season.
the flyers only had four teams in there group so they playe deach other twice they started very slow in their first two games but after that they started to wake up a bit and play .some good football luckily for them they had a full squad and also had two or three new players Gemma Pearson , Paris Williams and the other new girls name escapes me.They managed to get through to the final and beat kinmel bay 2-0.So well done girls and well done Sav (Manager) on your first trophies of the season i would just like to finish by saying a great big thankyu to all the parents who went to the tournament yesterday for all there help and support, if it wasnt for you getting the girls to the games we Wouldnt have any teams so a big thank you once again
