THE Seagulls will have to change a winning side when they face a tough first hurdle in the Emirates FA Cup on Saturday (Aug 20) away to Yorkshire side Shaw Lane AFC.
Midfielder Mark Keddie is unavailable so Chris Bibby is likely to come into the starting eleven, while goalkeeper Simon Williams and defender George Mannion will be added to the squad that beat Hyde United 3-1 on Tuesday.
Barnsley-based Shaw Lane AFC finished runners-up in the Evostik Divison One South last season, only to miss out on promotion in the play-offs, and have again started this season well, winning both their opening two league games away to Chasetown (3-1) and home to Sheffield FC (2-0).
Prolific scorer Gavin Elliott was named Evostik Manager’s Player of the Year last season and has already hit three goals for the Yorkshiremen this season.
Shaw Lane, however, did suffer a surprise 2-1 defeat to lower league side Alsager Town at this stage of the FA Cup last season.
Seagulls boss Paul Moore admitted: “Its a tough one, but we know their shape and what they are about and if we play as well as we did on Tuesday then we will give them a game.”
If the match is drawn the replay will be at Colwyn Bay on Tuesday (Aug 23, 7.45pm kick off)
The FA Cup draw has certainly not been kind to the Seagulls as victory over Shaw Lane will mean a long trip to the North East to play North Shields or Morpeth Town in the next round.
