ON a night when Gus Williams announced he is standing down as manager, Obi Anoruo completed a hat-trick of awards at the club’s presentation evening.
The 19-goal striker, who finished in the top ten Conference North goalscoring charts, won the Director’s Player of the Season award, the Golden Boot as top scorer and was also named Player of the Season by the East Midlands branch of the supporters club.
Marc Williams was named Supporters Player of the Season, Rob Hopley got the Players’ Player award and Mike Lea was named Manager’s Player of the Season by Gus Williams, who also made special awards to kit men Bryan Kelly and Mike Roberts.
More news on the manager’s job is expected next week.
Other awards made on the night included the Elfed Morris award for outstanding commitment to the club which went jointly to kit manager Bryan Kelly and transport manager Trefor Jones.
Press officer Tim Channon was awarded Life Membership for his work on behalf of the club.
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the following volunteer workers: Phil Cross, Trefor Jones, Richard Redmond, Dave Thomas, Dave Jones, Emma Marsden, Ryan Cuthbert, Dilwyn Roberts, Tommy Hynes, Sheila Jones, John Roberts, Dave Dickin, Bryan Kelly and Mike Roberts,
Club captain Rob Hopley, on behalf of the players, also made special awards to Bryan Kelly and Trefor Jones.
At the end of a season that saw the Reserves finish runners-up in their league, manager Chris Thompson presented awards to Sean Sheridan (Players’ Player), Damian Ketley (top goalscorer) and Will Frost (Manager’s award).
