DISAPPOINTING news for Seagulls fans is that striker Gary Burnett could be ruled out with injury until Christmas.

That follows results of a scan on the knee he injured towards the end of last season at Shaw Lane.

Manager Phill Hadland confirmed: “Obviously it is a big blow for Gaz and also the club, but we will do everything possible to get him fit and ready to play as soon as possible.”

Gaz Grant, who also has a knee problem, is expected to have a scan on his return from holiday this week.

Warren Bellew

Meanwhile, Warren Bellew has become the latest member of last season’s squad to sign up again for the Bay. The 27-year-old who helped Skelmersdale United win the Eo-stik Division One North title in 2013, made nine appearances at the back end of last season after he signed from Marine.

In other news, the manager reports:  “Iwan Cartwright has decided to leave the club in pursuit of playing at a higher level and we wish Iwan all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts last season.

“Astley Mulholland and Will Booth have returned from holiday this week an d will be working hard to get up to the same fitness levels as the rest of the group.

“Everyone is now looking forward to Tuesday night when we entertain Llandudno FC in our opening pre-season game.”

The players will be at the ground for a training session on the Llanelian Road pitch on Saturday morning from 10am ahead of next Tuesday’s game.
