Frank warns of Tamworth backlash

MANAGER Frank Sinclair is warning of a possible backlash from crisis club Tamworth when the Seagulls defend one of only two surviving unbeaten away records in the Vanarama Conference North at The Lambs on Saturday.
Tamworth, relegated from the Conference Premier last season after five seasons in the top tier, have won only one of their nine league games so far, are winless in their last seven (four draws) and, after dropping into the bottom three with last Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Stalybridge, they have parted company with manager Dale Belford this week and released two of their players.
Experienced defender Rob Purdie has taken over the running of the team, assisted by fellow defender Paul Green, until the club appoint a new manager.
Sinclair commented: “They have hit a big downward spiral from where they have been for the last few seasons. That all seems to have come to a head this week with the manager going, but sometimes that can bring on a siege mentality and players produce that extra effort and determination.
“That could make them dangerous opponents and we certainly can’t afford to take the game lightly. It is important we produce the same level of commitment and performance that we have shown in recent games
The Seagulls are unbeaten in their last four outings and Frank added: “We’ve only conceded two goals in our last four games and I am pleased with the way we’ve been defending, and hopefully we can keep that going to help us bring home three points and climb up the table.”
With Paulo Mendes and Moustapha Saiel still ruled out by injury, the Seagulls make only one change to their 16-man squad with Denis Pilliner recalled from the reserves in place of Sinclair who is serving a three match suspension for the red card received against Solihull last month.
