Fish nets treble to sink Seagulls

THE Seagulls suffered their heaviest home defeat in nearly 12 months as a hat-trick from Mike Fish helped Mossley to a 4-0 victory at Llanelian Road (January 7).
Colwyn Bay, with Scottt Bakkor the stand out performer, had three efforts cleared off the line and were denied on three other occasions by good saves from Mossley keeper Niki-Lee Bulmer, but had a very poor day defensively and also had Rob Doran sent off in the second half.
Mossley were in front inside 12 minutes when Fish scored from the penalty spot after Darryl Mason was brought down in the area by Matt Regan, and Mason added a second seven minutes later as he broke clear to round keeper Karl Wills – with the Bay appealing in vain for offside.
The Bay then lost centre back Sam Barnes through injury and conceded a third goal on 35 minutes when Fish volleyed in at the far post from a corner.
A Kyle Armstrong header that was cleared off the line and a Louis Corrigan free kick which was turned round the post by the Mossley keeper, who also made an excellent point blank range save from skipper Chris Gahgan, were the closest Bay came to getting on the score sheet in the first half.
Mossley added a fourth goal three minutes into the second half when Fish broke clear and scored at the second attempt after his first effort was blocked by Wills.
Colwyn Bay’s woeful day was capped on 61 minutes when Rob Doran was red carded for violent conduct after an altercation with one of his own team-mates.
The Seagulls, actually, did better with ten men and Corrigan had a shot tipped over the bar by Bulmer and Regan twice had close range efforts cleared off the line.
As well as the red card, the Bay also had four players booked as their winless run was extended to six games.
