Colwyn Bay Football Club First Team Staff and Players
Phil has played for Reading, Rochdale, Leyton Orient, Carlisle, Brighton, Darlington and Colchester, before embarking on a non-league career with Hednesford, Leek, Kidsgrove and Warrington Town. He took over as manager in December 2016, having previously been assistant to previous manager Paul Moore.
Karl, who began his career at Crewe, was at Warrington Town for three seasons and played a big part in them reaching the second round proper of the FA Cup in 2014/15, beating Exeter City in a televised first round tie, and then winning promotion as runaway Evostik Divison One North champions the following season when he kept 28 clean sheets. He signed for the Bay in December 2016.
Kieran is on a second loan spell from Wrexham, where he has progressed to the senior squad after initially signing for them under the Glyndwr Wrexham Football Academy. He has been studying Bsc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Sciences at degree level, following his release by Accrington Stanley.
A FORMER Liverpool schoolboys player, Sam played for Stockport County Under-18s when still a schoolboy and later had trials with Manchester United before having spells at Northwich Victoria and Marine before joining Hednesford Town in 2012 and helping them win promotion from the Evostik Premier Division in the 2012/13 season. He has returned to the Bay for a second spell after being at Glossop North End.
Former Tranmere Rovers youth player Louis is in his second spell at the Bay after playing in the 2009/10 promotion season before being hit by injury. He has since spent time at Warrington Town, interrupted by spells at Skelmersdale United, who he helped win promotion, and Marine, as well as a short time in Australia.
Dan is on loan from Wrexham until the end of the season. He was born in South Africa but raised in Sydney, Australia, where he played for Marconi Stallions, before moving to North Wales to sign for Bala Town in 2014. He then joined Wrexham under the Glyndwr Wrexham Football Academy
where he is studying for a BA degree in accounting.
Luke is in second spell with the club where he won two successive promotions, after spells with Chester and AFC Fylde. The right back, who began his career as a teenager with Tranmere Rovers, became a fans favourite as he helped the Bay climb from the Evo-stik Divison One North to the Conference North with promotions in 2009/10 and 2010/11. He joined Chester in 2012 and later moved to AFC Fylde, helping them win the Evo-stik Premier title in 2013/14.
A versatile utility player, Shaun was released by Chester City as an 18-year-old and has had successful spells with Rhyl and also played for Marine in the Evo-stik Premier before joining Nantwich Town. He signed for Colwyn Bay in June 2015, but has been very unlucky with injury this season.
A strong centre half was signed from Runcorn Town, Gareth can also play midfield and he scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for Runcorn. He has also had spells with St Helens Town and Ashton Athletic.
An attacking midfielder with pace, Will was signed from Kidsgrove after coming through the ranks at Port Vale. He was a member of the Cheshire team that won the FA County Youth Cup in 2015.
A play making midfielder, Michael was signed from Droylsden, having been released by Crewe Alexandra in the summer after unluckily missing much of last season with a knee injury.
A trainee at Bolton Wanderers where he played for the Youth team and Reserves, Michael signed his first pro contract with Lincoln City and was capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 levels. He played in Cyprus for a while after being released by Lincoln and has since had spells at Witton Albion, Guiseley and a couple of spells with Northwich Victoria, interrupted by a short time at Airbus UK, before joining Droylsden.
A versatile midfield player signed from Witton Albion, Tom helped Trafford win promotion via the play-offs in 2012/13. He set up a goal and then scored one of the penalties to help Trafford win the Manchester Premier Cup for the first time in 2014 when they beat Hyde United. He started last season with Curzon Ashton in the National League North before returning to Witton.
A defensive midfielder, Liam was signed from Warrington Town, where he came up through the reserves and was selected for the Cheshire League representative squad.
Wrexham-based central midfielder Iwan joined his home town club as a junior before joining National League North side Nuneaton Town, where he had a short spell on loan to Hednesford Town, before returning to Wrexham.
A left sided attacking player, Astley was signed from Glossop North End after previous spells with Ashton United, Altrincham, FC United and Chorley.
An attacking midfielder signed from Marine, Warren helped Skelmersdale United win the Evo-stik Division One North championship in 2013 and has also had spells at Clitheroe, Prescot Cables and Runcorn Town.
A winger with an eye for goal, Danny was on Liverpool’s books as a youngster and after a spell at Cammel Laird where he was Player of the Year in 2009/10, he joined Witton Albion in 2013/14, and made over 250 appearances for the Cheshire club, scoring over 80 goals – including 24 in 52 appearances last season. Colwyn Bay paid a four figure fee to bring him to the club in the summer.
A pacey goal-scoring forward , Danny was signed from Sandbach Town after netting 18 goals in the first half of their first season in the North West Counties League and helping them to promotion the previous campaign.
Chris was a key member of the Warrington Town side that reached the second round proper of the FA Cup in 2014/15 season and won promotion as Evostik Division One North champions the following season with an attack that scored 122 goals. He previously had short spells with Witton Albion and Northwich Victoria.
Jamie is in his second spell at the Bay having scored four goals in seven games while on loan from Halifax in 2012. He was top scorer for Glossop North End last season with 29 league goals and rejoined the Bay in February 2017 having also had spells at Chester, Marine, Fylde, Connah’s Quay and Witton Albion.
LUKE EDMUNDS (physio)
Luke joined the Seagulls as physio in August 2016. He did his training in college at Manchester and was with the England Touch Rugby squad that competed at the European Championships. He also works for Warrington Wolves Rugby League team.
BRYAN KELLY (kit manager)
Bryan has been kit and logistics manager for over 10 years, having been a supporter of the club for several years before that.
MIKE ROBERTS (assistant kit manager)
Mike is from Llanrwst and previously held a number of positions with Llanrwst United.
ELFYN JONES (head groundsman)
Elfyn was groundsman at Rhyl for three years before coming to the Bay and has been instrumental in making a huge improvement to the playing surface – with not one home game lost to the weather during the 2016/17 season.
