Colwyn Bay Football Club First Team Staff and Players
Phil has played for Reading, Rochdale, Leyton Orient, Carlisle, Brighton, Darlington and Colchester, before embarking on a non-league career with Hednesford, Leek, Kidsgrove and Warrington Town. He took over as manager in December 2016, having previously been assistant to previous manager Paul Moore.
An experienced defensive midfielder with over 250 Football League appearances, Anthony signed as a player and coach in the summer, having spent much of his career at Port Vale. He helped them win promotion from League Two in 2012/13 and was voted their Player of the Year in 2010. He has also has spells with Shrewsburyy Town, Carlisle, Oxford United and Altrincham, as well as Glossop North End and Trafford.
Signed from Glossop North End, Matt played for the Derbyshire club at Wembley in the 2009/10 FA Vase final against Whitley Bay and then had three seasons at Witton Albion prior to a short spell with Marine, before returning to Glossop where he won a Player of the Month award last season.
Kris, who was previously with Morecambe’s U23 development squad, was signed from Radcliffe Borough in the summer. He had an outstanding game and was named Man of the Match when Radcliffe beat the Bay at the end of last season. Previous clubs include Mold Alex, Conwy Borough and Hyde.
A FORMER Liverpool schoolboys player, Sam played for Stockport County Under-18s when still a schoolboy and later had trials with Manchester United before having spells at Northwich Victoria and Marine before joining Hednesford Town in 2012 and helping them win promotion from the Evostik Premier Division in the 2012/13 season. He has returned to the Bay for a second spell after being at Glossop North End.
A left footed defender, Shaun was signed from Droylsden after previously being at Skelmersdale United, where he helped the Mersyeside club win promotion as Evostik Division One North champions in 2012/13. He has also been at Southport and Burscough.
Dan is on loan from Wrexham until the end of the season. He was born in South Africa but raised in Sydney, Australia, where he played for Marconi Stallions, before moving to North Wales to sign for Bala Town in 2014. He then joined Wrexham under the Glyndwr Wrexham Football Academy
where he is studying for a BA degree in accounting.
A strong centre half was signed from Runcorn Town, Gareth can also play midfield and he scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for Runcorn. He has also had spells with St Helens Town and Ashton Athletic.
A central midfielder, Luke was in the Curzon Ashton squad that won the Evostik One North championship in 2013/14 for the club’s first title in 36 years. He started as a trainee at Bury and has also had spells at Northwich Victoria, Hednesford Town, New Mills and Trafford.
An attacking midfielder with pace, Will was signed from Kidsgrove after coming through the ranks at Port Vale. He was a member of the Cheshire team that won the FA County Youth Cup in 2015.
A play making midfielder, Michael was signed from Droylsden, having been released by Crewe Alexandra in the summer after unluckily missing much of his last season with a knee injury.
A defensive midfielder, Liam was signed from Warrington Town, where he came up through the reserves and was selected for the Cheshire League representative squad.
Wrexham-based central midfielder Iwan joined his home town club as a junior before joining National League North side Nuneaton Town, where he had a short spell on loan to Hednesford Town, before returning to Wrexham.
A left sided attacking player, Astley was signed from Glossop North End after previous spells with Ashton United, Altrincham, FC United and Chorley.
A winger with an eye for goal, Danny was on Liverpool’s books as a youngster and after a spell at Cammel Laird where he was Player of the Year in 2009/10, he joined Witton Albion in 2013/14, and made over 250 appearances for the Cheshire club, scoring over 80 goals.
A pacey goal-scoring forward , Danny was signed from Sandbach Town after netting 18 goals in the first half of their first season in the North West Counties League and helping them to promotion the previous campaign.
In his second spell with the Seagulls, Gary helped Shaw Lane win the Evostik Division One South title last season. Prior to that he netted over 50 goals in two spells at Northwich Victoria, interrupted by a short spell at Curzon Ashton, and helped them to two cup successes, winning the Cheshire Senior Cup in 2013/14 and Mid-Cheshire Senior Cup last season. He rejoined Northwich in November and went on to score 14 goals in the last five months of the campaign, including a hat-trick in a 6-1 Doodson Cup win against Premier Division Skelmersdale United – the club where he first made his debut.
Jack was signed from Radcliffe Borough where he scored 13 goals and had 21 assists last season, playing up front or on the wing, and he was also club captain.
Jamie is in his second spell at the Bay having scored four goals in seven games while on loan from Halifax in 2012. He was top scorer for Glossop North End in 2015/16 with 29 league goals and rejoined the Bay in February 2017 having also had spells at Chester, Marine, Fylde, Connah’s Quay and Witton Albion.
TOM RUTTER (Physio)
Tom. a former England Schoolboys international, played for Vauxhall Motors in the Conference North and was joint top scorer in the 2012/13 season, but when the Ellesmere Port club went into liquidation he concentrated on completing a degree in sports therapy and rehabilitation at Salford University and now runs his own business after short spells helping out at Accrington Stanley and Radcliffe Borough.
BRYAN KELLY (kit manager)
Bryan has been kit and logistics manager for over 10 years, having been a supporter of the club for several years before that.
MIKE ROBERTS (assistant kit manager)
Mike is from Llanrwst and previously held a number of positions with Llanrwst United.
ELFYN JONES (head groundsman)
Elfyn was groundsman at Rhyl for three years before coming to the Bay and has been instrumental in making a huge improvement to the playing surface – with not one home game lost to the weather during the 2016/17 season.
