THE Seagulls have signed striker Lloyd Ellams from Marine, while releasing Chris Sharp and Carl Rodgers.
The 24-year-old Ellams has had two spells at Marine, scoring 17 goals in 40 appearances, and has also had spells with Stalybridge Celtic, Vauxhall Motors and Conwy Borough.
The club put seven days in for Ellams last week and with Marine having just signed one of the league’s top goal scorers in Danny Mitchell from Skelmersdale United, he has agreed to join the Seagulls.
If international clearance comes through in time, he will be in the squad to travel to Ilkeston on Saturday.
Manager Ash Hoskin commented: “I believe it is a great signing for the club. He holds the ball up well, which is something we’ve been lacking, and he scores goals which we’ve also been struggling to do.”
With his signing, the manager has released Chris Sharp along with midfielder Carl Rodgers.
“Unfortunately the squad haven’t fulfilled the potential that they showed pre-season. Fans know results have not been nearly good enough and the time has come when we have to start making changes to try and turn things around,” said the manager
“Bruno (Rodgers) also wants regular football which in understandable at his time of life, but I can’t guarantee him that so he has been released to find another club and we wish him and Chris luck in the future and thank them both for their efforts.”
