Depleted Seagulls face big test

THE Seagulls face another huge test away to second-placed Fylde on Easter Monday (3pm), with their defence decimated by injuries and the shock departure of Danny Taylor.
Jonathan Royle is a big doubt after pulling up with a leg muscle injury during the warm-up for Saturday’s game against Guiseley and with Mike Wilson (broken wrist) and Louis Moss (Achilles) both out for the rest of the season, manager Gus Williams may have to persist with a makeshift back four – three of whom are playing out of position.
Commenting on Taylor’s decision to quit the club, manager Gus Williams said: “It is with great disappointment to the club and supporters alike that I announce the departure of Danny Taylor at a crucial time in our season. Danny made the decision to leave on Good Friday, having returned to the club following a short period at Chester.
“We now look forward to the challenge ahead of staying in the league and securing the club in the Conference North as gratitude to the set of loyal supporters, board of Directors and Chairman that have stood by the squad throughout the campaign.”
Chairman Dave Titchiner said: “Danny sadly let us know by email he was leaving as he wasn’t prepared to sit on the bench after recently losing his place in the team – which has done well since those changes were made. I’m disappointed in his decision because the board agreed to bring him back to the club over Frank’s head and I feel he has let the team, club and supporters down by leaving with four crucial games left.”
Reserve team players Ashley Seddon and Jos Bakker will again make up the subs bench alongside Adam Hodgson.
It will be Bay’s second tough game in three days, while Fylde got a day off on Saturday when their game at Bradford was postponed and Dave Challinor, who watched Bay’s game on Saturday, expects to have a near full strength squad available.
