LUKE DENSON scored two goals and was close to his first ever hat-trick for the club as the Seagulls moved into the top five play-off places with a 3-1 away win at Ramsbottom United (Sept 27).
That made it four wins in 11 days for manager Paul Moore’s side, who have climbed 14 places up the table in that time.
Right back Luke opened the scoring on 33 minutes when he converted a rebound off the keeper’s legs following a Colwyn Bay free kick into the area, and the Bay could have been two or three up by half-time with Will Jones missing out on a couple of great opportunities and Scott Bakkor firing wide from another.
Although Colwyn Bay had most of the play, Ramsbottom showed they were a threat from set pieces with their big defender Paul Linwood hitting the post with a header from a corner, so Bay needed a second goal and it came on 73 minutes after a storming run by Will Booth, who had another outstanding game in midfield, was brought to an end when he was crudely brought down on the edge of the Ramsbottom area.
Defender Luke Thompson was booked for the foul, but was more severely punished by Luke Denson who duely rifled the free kick into the bottom corner of the net.
Denson was then close to completing a hat-trick when a dipping shot from 25 yards hit the top of the bar and bounced over.
Ramsbottom pulled a goal back on 86 minutes when Bradley Roscoe scrambled the ball in from close range following a corner, but in added time, after Gaz Burnett, Will Jones and Chris Gahgan had all gone close to scoring, Danny Andrews took the ball past the last defender and rounded the keeper to score Bay’s third to secure the points.
