Colchester to provide big test

THE Seagulls face another big test against League Two promotion hopefuls Colchester United in their second pre-season game in three days his evening (Friday, July 13, 7pm kick off).

Colchester, who have agreed to a game at the Bay following a training camp at Carden Park near Chester, were in good form when they beat Conference South side Bainbridge 5-0 earlier this week.

Craig Hogg takes charge of the Bay tonight while Alan Morgan is away and he expects to have a full squad available.

“We don’t often get the chance to see a team of Colchester’s stature at the Bay so we are looking forward to it and it will be a good test for us. It will be a good guide to where we are at in our preparations for the new season and a chance to put the tactical and technical things we have been working on into practice against full-time opposition,” says Hoggy.

“The players know they will have to work hard to compete with players who are in full-time training, and that is good for our own fitness and reaching the conditioning targets we have set in a very important pre-season programme.”

Admission for tonight’s game is £5 for adults, £3 concessions (OAPs and 16-21 years and £1 for Under 16s. There is FREE entry  for Foster Carers (on production of foster carers’ card) and for season ticket purchasers.
