Gus Williams returns to the Bay as Director of Football

COLWYN BAY FC are now in a position to announce that Gus Williams has accepted a role at the club as Director of Football

Only recently he assisted the club in appointing the new manager which fuelled the club to recognise this role officially.
The role will see Gus work closely with the manager Kevin Lynch as he has done in the last few weeks.

Commenting on his role, Gus said: “When the Chairman and Vice-Chairman asked me to assist them with the appointment of a new manager I was immediately interested as it was an opportunity to repay the club for the support they provided me when I was here initially.
“I am here now to put in place a support mechanism which will assist Kevin in obtaining and attaining not only his personal objectives as a manager but also that of the club of which Kevin made clear in his statement on arrival at the club. I shall work between The Board and Kevin liaising with Kevin on all football matters and reporting to the Board on a regular basis.
“This is a great club with great people in and around the place and therefore a pleasure to return in this capacity at such an exciting time for all.”

Fortnight of Action Wales 15

Show Racism the Red Card’s Fortnight of Action takes place in Wales from 16th – 31st October, 2015

Show Racism the Red Card is the UK’s leading anti-racism educational charity. The organisation utilises the high-profile status of football and football players to help tackle racism in society. The campaign delivers educational workshops to young people and adults in their schools, workplaces and at events held in stadiums.

This weekend will see Colwyn Bay support the Fortnight of Action 15 in our fixture against Blyth Spartans, both teams will be wearing anti-racism T-shirts prior to kick off to show their support for Show Racism the Red Card and its anti-racism work.

The Fortnight of Action 15 forms part of the FARE Football People action weeks and is supported by the Football Association of Wales. This year’s Fortnight of Action will see 56 clubs, featuring over 1000 players across 8 leagues all unite to challenge discrimination and celebrate the contribution we all make to football, wherever we live, whatever our connection to the game and whatever our background.

Our club ambassador this season is Robbie Booth who shared his thoughts on racism in football saying: “There is no place in football for any form of racism-it’s as simple as that”

Acting Joint-Manager Rob Hopley also highlighted the clubs stance against racism: “As a club we have an excellent reputation, on and off the field and everyone here is determined for that to continue and grow. We are known as a friendly club and are rightly proud of that”.

Football is a sport that is followed by all, and should be an enjoyable experience for all, whatever their background.

We hope you enjoy the game this weekend and ask you to support the player’s action before kick-off.
