SEAGULLS boss Kev Lynch has appointed Carl ‘Bruno’ Rodgers as the new club captain ahead of Saturday’s home game against Rushall Olympic (3pm)
Luke Denson has been appointed new vice-captain in a squad that will show a number of changes.
As well as the shock departure of Rob Hopley, Lloyd Ellams, Robbie Booth and Sam Barnes have also left to find new clubs, but Antonie Boland comes into contention after finally completing his protracted transfer from Salford City, and new Wrexham loan signing Danny Reynolds is in line to make his debut up front.
Shaun Pearson continues in goal with Louis Gray still recovering from surgery, while James Graham is back from playing for Wales in the UEFA U19 qualifying tournament in Georgia where he played in all three games against Georgia (won 3-0), Austria (lost 2-0) and Albania (lost 3-2).
The manager added: “We have trained well this week and the lads are picking up the pace and are looking forward to the game on Saturday.”
On the appointments of Rodgers and Denson he said: “Both players are great role models who will have the full backing of the squad.
“Since I arrived at the club Carl has been fantastic and leads by example and always conducts himself professionally both on and off the pitch. I personally believe he has the attributes to be a great leader.”
Rushall Olympic have also added to their squad recently by bringing in 20-year pacey winger Sam Humphreys on loan from Oxford United and 19-year-old midfielder Joe Howell on loan from Crewe Alexandra.
Their main threat up front is Luke Benbow, the league’s second top scorer with 13 league goals – including both goals in Rushall’s 2-1 home win over Colwyn Bay last month.
“Both teams will show a lot of changes from when we played at their place and it should be an interesting game,” added the manager.
THE Reserves will look to take their unbeaten run into double figures with an away game at Meliden on Saturday (2pm kick off).
