Colwyn Bay’s first Skrill North home game since 11 January ended in a 1-1 draw against Gloucester City. Matt Groves gave the visitors the lead on 27 minutes but Jamie Ellison equalised from the penalty spot,at the second attempt after his first effort had been saved, at the end of the first half after Marc Williams had been fouled in the area. Earlier Sean Williams hit the underside of the bar with a shot from the edge of the area, but mostly the Bay’s finishing was poor with Marc Williams missing out on a one-on-one with the keeper, while later he shot weakly with just the keeper to beat and Sean Williams then missed a sitter near the end when the ball seemed to bobble as he went to sidefoot it into the net. At the other end Tom Smyth had to clear off the line to prevent a second Gloucester goal and Chris Sanna saved a free Gloucester header from a corner.”I thought we controlled the game on a very difficult surface and apart from their goal I can’t remember them causing us too many problems,” Bay boss Frank Sinclair said. “We just couldn’t get the second goal we needed to win it, but I can’t fault the boys for their effort.” More on Tim Channon’s Blog.
