Colwyn Bay will be at home again in the third qualifying round of the FA Cup – with the draw setting up the possibility of a return for former player-manager Jon Newby to the Red Lion Foods Stadium.
The Seagulls have been drawn at home to Evostik Division One north clubs Ossett Town or Warrington Town, who drew 1-1 last Saturday. They replay at Warrington’s HG Recruitment Stadium on Tuesday night (Oct 1).
Newby scored his first ever FA Cup goal to earn Warrington the replay and says he was hoping to be paired with Colwyn Bay in today’s draw.
Seagulls boss Frank Sinclair commented: “I’m very happy with that. Funnily enough I was only speaking to Newbs on Friday! Another home tie is great for the club and the draw gives us every chance of progressing to the next round.”
Victory would net Colwyn Bay £7,500 in prizemoney as well as a place in the final qualifying round alongside the Skrill Premier clubs.
