THE Seagulls were heavily beaten 4-1 at home by Skelmersdale United (Jan 19), for whom striker Chris Almond scored a hat-trick.
The visitors had already hit a post and forced a couple of good saves out of Bay keeper Shaun Pearson, before Almond put his side ahead from the penalty spot on 19 minutes when Will Bell lost the ball in his own area and then pulled the Skem player back by his shirt.
Almond headed his second goal from a Valter Fernandez cross early in the second half, and after a 20 minute delay due to a floodlight failure, Almond broke free in the area to complete his hat-trick before Max Hazeldine ran onto a long ball and rounded Pearson for Skelmersdale’s fourth.
Pearson made more good saves to deny the visitors further success, before Connor Roberts-Nurse headed a late consolation goal for the Seagulls on his debut from a Jordan Harper cross.
