Shaun Pearson plays in FA Trophy tie at Burscough

THE Seagulls have re-signed Llandudno-born goalkeeper Shaun Pearson and he is set to play in Saturday’s FA Trophy tie at Burscough, while Louis Gray is back at Everton receiving treatment for a foot injury.

Pearson, who signed for Conference club Barrow from Llangefni Town before having a season in Australia,  has had two previous short spells at the Bay.
The Seagulls are without Kevin Holsgrove, as Stockport County don’t want him cup-tied during his loan spell, but Wrexham loanee Joe Newton has been cleared to play in an otherwise full strength squad.
New manager Kevin Lynch and assistant Peter Cumiskey held their first training session on Thursday night and the manager commented: “I was very pleased with the attitude and the effort the players put in. There is a lot of work to do, but if the lads maintain the endeavour they have shown so far then I am sure better results are just around the corner.”
Hopefully the new management team can celebrate their first victory in a game that is worth £2,700 in prizemoney to the winners.
“Its a nice distraction from the league and is an important competition from both a prestige and financial point of view, but we know it is going to be a tough game,” said the manager.
“Burscough are a good young side who show lots of endeavour.”
The Linnets, who are currently eighth in the Evostik Division One North, have been very strong at home this season with seven wins and just one defeat  in nine league and cup games at Victoria Park,  and have lost only once in their last 12 outings.
Their attack includes former Nantwich Town, Marine and Warrington Town striker Will Jones along with ex-Bangor City forward Liam Caddick.
