Colwyn Bay started the New Year in style with an impressive 3-0 win away to Vauxhall Motors – their sixth successive win in the Skrill North which sees them up to 7th in the table.
Bay dominated the early exchanges and were close two scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes. James Ellison clipped the bar with a header from a corner and then Gareth Evans volleyed just wide from a super cross by the hard-working Jamie Crowther.
But they did take the lead on 31 minutes when Gareth Evans played in Marc Williams and although home keeper Zac Jones blocked his first shot, he made no mistake from the rebound.
Ellison had a chance to double Bay’s lead before half-time but skied his shot high and wide after more excellent build-up play.
Bay added a second goal on 58 minutes with a cultured first time finish by Evans from a Sean Williams cross.
Vauxhall were reduced to 10 men on 70 minutes when Matty Williams was red carded for a poor tackle on Evans and Colwyn Bay sewed up the victory with a third goal 10 minutes from the end.
Marc Williams, who had again been superb up front, played a tremendous crossfield pass which opened up the Vauxhall defence, and substitute Cameron Darkwah ran onto it, beat a defender and rifled a shot inside the far post.
