NEW STAND GETS THE GREEN LIGHT

Conwy County Council granted planning permission today to erect the new stand over the existing concrete standing terrace at Llanelian Road. After securing back to back promotions, Colwyn Bay FC have been told if they want to remain in the Conference North they must bring their ground up to league standards by March 31.  For more details, see tomorrows North Wales Weekly News.

COLWYN BAY VS BOSTON UNITED - THE RUN CONTINUES

After 540 minutes (9 hours) of football, Colwyn Bay finally conceded a goal as Boston got the only goal of the first half on 30 minutes.

In a mad eight minutes, Colwyn Bay levelled the scores, but Boston immediately regained the lead, only for Shelton Payne to hit a contender for the season to make the match all square at 2-2 with a 30 yard strike  With both teams going for the win, it was Karl Noon in the dieing minutes who smashed another 30 yard screamer into the net to keep the three points in North Wales

That is now SEVEN games unbeaten for the Bay in 2012 and with tonight's other three scheduled league games all off,  this was a massive three points. More on Tim's blog later.

£300 RAISED AFTER NEW YEARS DAY DIP

Thanks to Gary Lloyd for raising over £300 for the Raise The Roof Campaign from his sponsored dip in the sea on New Years Day.  Lloydo is shown above presenting the proceeds to Bob Paton.

Cheers Gary!

NEWBY NAMED MANAGER OF THE MONTH

COLWYN BAY player-boss Jon Newby has been named Blue Square Bet North's January Manager of the Month, just three months after taking the job. The Seagulls have had an exceptional month, with four league wins (all away from home, including victories at promotion chasing and Stalybridge Celtic.) and a draw at home in five league games to move into the top eight of the table.

COLWYN BAY BRING THEIR GOOD RUN HOME

Saturday 11th February v  F C Halifax

Saturday 18th February v  Nuneaton

STALYBRIDGE (0) VS. COLWYN BAY (4) By Tim Channon

ROB HOPLEY headed home with the match ball in his bag after notching his first hat-trick in nearly a year in Colwyn Bay's extraordinary 4-0 away victory at Stalybridge Celtic. His three goals came in the space of just nine minutes either side of half-time, and was his first treble since he got three at Bradford Park Avenue on February 2nd last year.  It took his recent goals tally to six in his last five games and he said himself afterwards this was probably his best performance since he came back from his bad knee injury. "I hope there is plenty more goals to come," he smiled.  Full Report>>>

NEWBY SIGNS SHELTON PAYNE

COLWYN BAY player-boss Jon Newby looks to have secured the signing of young forward Shelton Payne from Chorley.  The 22-year-old Welshman, who was born in Cardiff and has had spells at Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers, has recently been on loan at Blue Square North leaders Hyde where he scored three goals in five appearances, and impressed when Hyde narrowly beat Colwyn Bay 3-2 in November.

Payne has been in dispute at Chorley and on the transfer list at his own request. He was even threatening to hang up his boots for the rest of the season if the Lancashire club refused to release him.  Chorley manager Garry Flitcroft signed Payne from Trafford, after he had scored 15 goals in 27 appearances following his release by Blackburn.

He can play on either wing or down the middle and Colwyn Bay will see him as a great replacement for Danny Lloyd who recently signed full-time for Lincoln City. "Shelton has signed all the papers and we are just waiting for Chorley to confirm they have cancelled his contract so he can play for us at Eastwood on Saturday," reported Newby.

SEAGULLS GIVEN STAND ULTIMATUM BY LEAGUE

COLWYN BAY FC have had to act quickly after receiving notification that they must build a new stand at Llanelian Road or face relegation from the Conference North.  A meeting of club supporters and shareholders on Sunday was told by club chairman Bob Paton that new league regulations require a minimum of four rows of seating in stands, and currently Llanelian Road has only three.
